I agree. I'm all like...WTF?

I used to love it...I still listen to songs now and then, but I'm just not feeling so dark these days. In fact, ever since the first time I took mushrooms I've grown farther and farther away from them.

I saw them live and it was fucking awesome, ripped on purple haze. Would do that again, but can't listen to them recreationally or anything.
DEFINITELY a NO for tripping for me.

the darkness comes from a sense of frustration with modern society. An anger at how badly things have gone and are continuing to go. But the music also contains a sense of hope, moments of shimmering beauty that stand out and are intensified by the surrounding darkness. At least that's what I think.

I'm listening to some Tool right now. Not anything that I have frequently enjoyed, but it's good to listen to every now and then.

Tool is good for getting out your anger.
"Lateralus" isn't all that dark of an album, IMO, with tracks like "Reflection", "Disposition", and "The Patient.

APC lyrics are much "darker" then tool's lyrics... I don't understand where some of you are coming from. By dark do you mean esoteric? Many Tool songs involve "occultic" themes that not many people know about (ex. the cycle of Saturn and the theory of its effects on people at around the age 27, the theory of 46+2 chromosomes and christ concious ascention, also the drummer is a collector of many of the late magician aleister crowley's works)
The past tool albums have been kind of a social commentary. They admired bill hicks and sampled several of his quotes into their songs relating to the downfall of society and our materialistic self centered culture. The earlier ones also deal with the ignorance of blind "faith" and "tools" in general.
Tool is definitely my favorite band of all time. I love the music and how well keenan's lyrics twist through them.

I grew up listening to Tool. I really love Opiate. It has some energy from out of this world! Undertow is good, too. All of the stuff after that album is okay, but those two albums will always hold a special place in my cd case.
