Tool Music: An exploration into the unknown?
    #1959234 -

As many of you may know, the band "Tool" bases many of their songs on spiritual and mythological concepts while also expressing a unique musical style. It seems to me that listening to these songs would be a good way to begin an experience - many important venues and themes could be opened and explored in this way.

However, Tool does not have by any means "soft" music, and there is the possibility that it may provide too much of an auditory overload. This may result in my or one of my companions having a bad trip.
Has anybody ever tried mushroom tripping while listening to this music? Is it the catalyst I'm looking for?

i know this doesnt help but im guessing that listening to tool (especially if you listen to an album from beginning to end) on psychedelics would make for a pretty intense experience.

I heard the live tool mini box set "Salival" for the first time when I was on shrooms....IT WAS GREAT!!! I like hard music when I trip and that album is bad shit! I highly suggest it! Third Eye! Harry Manback! NO QUARTER!! the only thing I would worry about is getting rocked so hard you shit your pants, or maybe your head could expolde like that guy on scanners...but I was digging it! hope that helps.

Tool is my absolute favorite music to listen to while tripping, especially Lateralus. I myself once wondered if it was wise to listen to such aggressive-sounding music while tripping, but this was before I had really tripped. I find that when I am tripping, I am not at all mellow like I am with weed. Rather, I get the feeling of wanting to jump out of my body. It's a very aggressive feeling, and Tool complements that feeling very well.

Lateralus + mushrooms = WOW! I've done that on acid a few times too. Amazing album. Haven't tried the whole of Aenema on a trip yet, but I can imagine it'd be pretty awesome.
I tripped on shrooms (my first high dose trip on shrooms...normally I don't dose that much) and had something like a Level 3/4 trip to a live Tool concert blasting on my home stereo. I lost it halfway through Third Eye and couldn't listen to the rest of the show. Up to that point was really intense though.

I highly suggest listening to Tool on psychadelics. They are the only intense band I enjoy while tripping.

Aenima is my favorite when ... er.... altered

Tool is great. They are the opposite of Pink Floyd (Tool's a bit dark... I recomend you have a little experience before tripping to Tool) but equally effective.

Five Stars
