Gravity is some cool shit!

I get a kick out of thinking about gravity. As a universal force its incredibly weak yet every atom in the universe attracts every other atom. Another interesting thing is some people have theorized that gravity moves instantly which means faster then light
I demand a unified field theory!!!

gravity doesn't move instantly
if the sun suddenly disappeared, there is a finite amount of time that the earth would continue to revolve around where the sun was

Einstein theorized that the speed of the effect that gravity has on objects is the speed of light.

So, is a free falling object, effected by gravity?

Electro-magnetism is better
One could ionize substances and transmute substances through electricity provided we had the technology (think Alchemy through Electrical induction)
Gravity is limited.
If we could harness something on the macroscopic scale in terms of the electrical output of the sun... we could effect many things including but not limited to global weather. (Fusion creates an enormous amount of electricity, but somehow that escapes the typical modeling of the dynamics of a solar system and the electrical relationship between celestial bodies)
Yes... I'm outsane if you needed to ask.

Gravity and acceleration are equivalent if that helps.

It looks to me that it is a very strong universal force. Not so weak as you have stated.
As the earth rotates on it's axis.

It's a weak force overall, but not when applied on a macroscopic level. Weak in terms of other forces and their effects.

Gravity tends to be viewed as weak in comparison to the other forces only because, on a smaller scale, it is weak. The more mass involved, the stronger gravity is.
Most common example: All the gravitational pull of the earth can't overpower the magnetic force of a single little fridge magnet holding up a piece of paper.
However, if you were to take a bowling ball and try to stick it to the fridge with that magnet, that shit isn't staying up there.
IIRC, Gravity's force is proportional to the mass of the object(s) being acted upon. Therefore the smaller the scale you're working on, the weaker gravity is per mass.
I really only "know" this stuff loosely and in theory, but I believe this has something to do with why the laws of physics change when you're working on a sub-atomic scale.
--
So my point is: Some people say gravity is weak, but it's relative. It depends. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. There are variables left blank.

Just guessing here, but if the sun did just magically disappear, the earth(in my "normal" understanding of mass and such in this reality) would not have an orbit to continue on a path with - there would be no axis to orbit.... It just may go in a straight line from that point on, unless something powerful was done....

It'll align itself with another star, or anything else of that matter if the celestial bodies cross paths...
As for anything, our planet has aligned with asteroids not due to the circumstance that it is a planet, but rather out of chance that it was in the right place at the right time. It'd be like assuming a particular car is more likely then others to get hit by another car out on the road, it's just chance based on the movement, and size of the other vehicles, as well as the driver's ability (movement/oscillation in terms of the star).
We'll be dead by then, so we can only speculate.

your partly right. there would be about 8 minutes separating the moment the sun disappeared from the moment the earth would go in a straight line.
the sudden disappearance of the sun would create a sort of huge gravitational wave in the space-time fabric that would knock the earth off its orbit.

Generally, I find gravity to be rather annoying.
But it does keep me from flying off into space so I can't disparage it too much.
