I probably wouldn't have a license anymore if I didn't have a radar detector...they REALLY do work good. I will never drive without one. If you like to go fast, get one.

Never used one, never been pulled over for speeding. Personally I think they are a waste of money and a nuisance with all that pointless beeping.

theres only 1 radar Iv ever used that actually worked its from a company called valentine one. I like it because its the only one Iv ever been able to find that actually tells you where the cops at, id say it works 9 out of 10 times and 9 out of 10 times is right about where the cop was, it has little red arrows that light up and tell you where the cops at (like if the up and right arrow light up hes somewhere above and to the right), it tells you how many guns are on you too so you know if theres multiple cops.

if you do a google search you'll find em, their expensive but waaayyyyy worth it.

they dont work at all against point and shoot radar guns, the ones that are not active until they pull the trigger. because by time it goes off the cop has already pointed and shot.

what makes you think that? That's its purpose is to detect a laser ahead (if a cop is using a gun hes not gonna just use it on you he'll be using it on cars ahead of you as well) after 500 or so feet a laser coming from a radar gun will expand to be about 7 feet wide with a human hand holding that gun and introducing "aiming wobble" the beam will easily be 2-3 times larger than that, that's what the detector pick up (this is only if your detector has some kind of advanced warning system).

if you buy a detector for 25 bucks its not gonna work, if you want one that works your gonna drop about 400 bucks. but in response to four20's post yes the detectors I was speaking of will and do work against mounted dash and point and shoot lasers. :peace:

I've used radar detectors and CB radios in both my vehicles for years. they've paid for themselves many times over in tickets avoided. Truckers on CB can ID police locations many miles ahead, as well as :piggy: "smokies rolling" behind you or coming at you.  I also enjoy the public address feature available on many CB radios. Nothing's funnier than talkin' shit at unsuspecting drivers and pedestrians through my PA speaker hidden under the hood. :smirk:

I used to use one, worked great, but I decided the beeps weren't worth it...

Also, if you do get pulled over for anything other than speeding, you will most likely get a ticket, or a big hassle. Cops HATE radar detectors.

I only drive around my own town and neighboring towns really. So I know all the places cops hide to catch speeders and usually when they hide. I also know what roads cops rarely drive on, what roads they don't give a shit about you speeding on, and which roads are flooded with cops. Just know your surroundings and drive accordingly and you will be fine.
