i boil in a pot about 80% success rate.

Yahh but even a cheap PC can make 100% success rate w/ a sterile environment. Brown (mahhatma brand, store bought anywhere) rice hardly ever contaminates when not soaked and just pc'ed for 15 minutes. Out of 18 rice jars in 2 batches within one week, not one contamed. (AFOAF still shows perfect colinizing and healthy growth) Prior to his hiatus, in 7 years brown rice was always a success with less than 1% contam rate over a few hundred jars, 15 minutes pc'ed with tap water.

Spend the dough on a pc, your options go way up. In fact, a friend of a friend just sterilized over 3lbs of brown rice in a big glass salad bowl sealed with tape and two layers of foil. You really dont have those fun options when steaming or micro'ing...
