A messed up casing

My friend was casing 1 cake into this small container. She put an inch of verm. on the bottom, then 1 and a 1/2 inch of crumbled cake, then a 1/2 inch of verm. So then she's taking some plastic wrap out to put on top, when all of a sudden she knocks the casing, and it tips out into the sink. Half of it spilled out. She just scooped everything back in... She knows that the cake layer is uneven now, and in some places, instead of a 1/2 inch of verm on top, it's probably 1 inch. She decided to leave it anyway. Should she fix this, by taking everything out, and recasing? Or should she just patch the mycelium that shows up, until it looks fairly even... Thanks!

this happened to me once...only i didnt scoop it back in, it tilted it up so the top was even, even though the layers were not and left it. It worked out just fine for me

unless the casing was contaminated in the sink the case should be fine, mushrooms grow just fine on uneven terrain, hell, look at how even the flat cake tek is, you dont find to many shrooms on top! just remember to not put that much vermiculite on top. it should be fine.
god must be dead if your alive

She should fix it. Even layers make for even flushes.

Yes I told her to fix it as well... The thing is, it has been almost an entire day since it all fell out. A chunk of mycelium that was on the surface has already started to expand and grow. Will she ruin the cake if she disturbs it again? And if she does go and re-do the casing, should she just remove everything, and then find the pieves of cake and put them back as best as possible? I guess that would be the only way.

Yeah, just dump the casing material, even out the substrate and recase. Once colonized, this substrate is pretty tough.

Tell her she's welcome. Smart too. She listens to the Shitzin.

Yeah she listened to me about this, but she rarely takes my advice... Anyways, she just told me that she just finished re-casing it. She said it was fairly easy, and that it looks like she did a better job than the first time. She broke the cake into smaller pieces to even it out better (Pieces the size of a penny; obviously not than thin though...), will it take longer to "re-connect" now, because she separated it a lot? Well, I'll post the results when they come in. Thanks everyone.
