What does it mean when the mycelium changes color

This happened on my first (and, unsuccessful) casing attempt.
First, the mycelium colonized the casing- everything bright white, all looked good.
Second, the mycelium turned a shade off-white
Third, it turned a white- light green shade and got hard as a rock.
In different spots, I also battled the trichoderma mold, but am not sure if it is connected.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated! I have to learn to grow these things- the only good field I knew of around here is becoming a neighborhood

Tough question, Abe, but as a rule green is bad, so is hard as a rock. I wish I could be more help.
