I'm joining the Navy?
    #3781433 -

I went to the recruiter Saturday and signed tons of papers.Basically I signed about 10 forms and a written statement. All of which were me giving my consent to releases my medical records and everything else.
The recruiter told me I may not be eligible but he believes they'll take me.
I'm not looking to get ridiculed but by all means feel free to do so.I'm not some dumb kid fresh out of high school,I've been in the work force for more than 5 years.
I know I'll be fighting for a war I don't agree with and I'll feel like a hypocrite if they except me.
I'm at a crossroads in my life right now and I don't know what the fuck to do.I know I'll hate the restrictions that the military has but I'll get to travel to exotic places like Russia,Guam,Australia,Hong Kong,Iraq,Iraq,Afghanistan,Afghanistan and many more places if our President fucks with more countries.
Basically,I want to know,Do you all think I just made the biggest mistake of my short lived life?

I have a friend who joined the navy a few years back - he went from a coke and meth head as well as multiple felon to a loving husband and home owner....nothing I would personally do, but it definately puts some people's lives on track.

Multiple Felon ???? Suprised they'd take him. They told me if I had any felonies when I was going to join the USMC I would be declined entry top MEPS.

You'll be fine... just be careful and look out for your buddies.

My love is in Afghanistan right now and he says that is sucks to be so far away from his real life, but he's living a once in a lifetime experience... He'll be finished his contract in 2 more years and be free to do whatever he wants with the rest of his life.

I have a friend that joined the army and loves it.  He lives in southern Germany now and has it pretty good.  I'd say the army was a good choice for him.

I have another friend who also joined the army and is now sweating his balls off in southern Iraq.  He hasn't said he hates it, but I don't think he's too happy about it.

Whether or not the Navy will work out for you depends on a lot of things, but probably mostly on you as an individual.  Some people love it, but some call it the biggest mistake of their lives.

So, basically what I'm saying is, there's probably no way to know if it's the right decision or not.

yeah, grand theft auto, charges were dropped after 3 years of jail time though, and he was also called a crackhead by the military guy before taking the drug tests, but he wanted it pretty bad, running, drinking quitting.

Only you can do that

the only thing the military can do is make you more paranoid

I gave the army and marines allot of thought but I wouldn't get to travel as much. The navy offers the best education and skills that can be used in civilian life IMO.
