Hollow shrooms, what's the problem?
    #374725 - 08/19/01 06:53 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

I was just wondering what would contribute to hollow shrooms? These shrooms grow tall, but are hollow . BC of that, they often times fall over. Any suggestions?

i think mushrooms in general (average cap and stem) are supposed to have hallow stems.

how do you expect people to watch the brady bunch without any lsd?

umm....these are B+'s. Worm Dung spawned w/ Birdseed.

these are pretty hollow in my opinion. ill try to describe them. some shrooms are pretty thick, they may be a little hollow...but, all in all they're pretty sturdy. these ones that i've had recently are so hollow that if you twist them a little, they'll shred. i know this sounds kinda confusing. it's the only way i can explain it. plus you're able to pinch them and flatten them from the hollowness. i've grown some off of just cased birdseed and coir and they were pretty sturdy. these ones i have now are cased w/ verm..which might be the problem.

Most mushrooms in general are hollow...B+ Cubensis are known for being especially hollow, yet big...The only Cubies that are thick fleshed from my personal growing experiences are the GTs, PFs, and GCs..

Hollow stems are normal in B+. In fact, most larger cubensis strains (such as the Ecuador) tend to be a little hollow in the stem.

I've experienced this several times on a couple strains, B+ and Indian I think. Basically, this problem is due to too much heat while growing. The warmth is making the shrooms grow too fast, so they aren't filling out enough. If you want to counteract this, drop the temperature 10-20 degrees. I've grown B+ in some cold ass conditions (60 degrees) and it comes out nice and thick.
