Strong growth..then nothing

Anyone know why i get strong patches of growth during the first week after innoculation and then nothing for the next months until it slowly dies?

Likely it's dry substrate.

Try injecting 10 cc's of sterile (boiled) water past your verm layer. No, you're not doomed.
