What do you think music will be like in 30 years time? I think the current state of music is shocking and without a few freaky geniuses coming along in the near future i doubt it will get much better, what do you think?

Music will still be the same. There will still be shallow mainstream pop music and some good lesser known but mindblowing bands and artists.
As for the whole "music is getting more shocking", its just people dont hold back now a days like they used to and are allowed to get more shocking without being rejected. IMHO mainstream music will get more open about violence/sex/drugs but not a whole lot more. Then it will level off. Also expect digital electronic instruments to be incorperated into nearly every song and band.

About the digital electronic instruments that does seem like the way its going. Imagine if john lennon was around today I bet he could do something interesting with all the technology thats available today

in 30 years we'll have samplers implated in our arms, mics implated in our fists and an output in our ass.

As people are able to produce better and better quality tunes at home and distribute them easilly via the internet, I think the range of music available will increase hugely, and the large record labels will start to lose a lot of their power. I expect the charts to become less important, and commercial music to decline (althoguht it won't dissapear)

I don't think the traditional instruments will dissapear at all, but electronic music will become much bigger than it is now.

I could be wrong though.

Phil

Most generations complain about the earlier generations music.
But as for me, I'm a metal head and I have to say, the new metal coming out is AMAZING! I'm stoked to see the metal scene in 30 years.
