GimpyTomCat said: COERCION Pronunciation: kow'urshun Definition: 1.)n, using force to cause something; "though pressed into rugby under compulsion I began to enjoy the game"; "they didn`t have to use coercion"
OK, I'll say that cooercion is a minor form of force.
Quote: In my understanding of the above dictionary definition, I would agree that Coercion is not a physically forced action, but indeed implies a psychological force of intended action, using fear, intimidation, humiliation, or maybe even threats (yes I did use a little logical extrapolation of the actual definition)....
Yea, I'll go with that. However, flattery can be a form of coercion as well.
Quote: In my opinion to how I have grown, known, and "morally" raised to believe what is "right", my answer: NO.... -This is my opinion.... Let me turn the question back to you.... Do you think it is "right" or "acceptable" to engage in sexual acts with a 10 year old....? (Not knowing your actual age or gender...)
I think that some situations could arise where some sexual contact between a 10 year old and another person would not be indicitave of a forceful action or mental defect. I can't even think of a situation like this, but it's hard to set down "THE AGE" where it's bad.
Quote: On a side tangent argument about age, would it be OK to let a 10 year old drive a car on the open roads in a busy city, never having learned the ropes - just because they "consented" too it....? It just MAY turn out fine, but there is a strong possibility that the inexperienced 10 year old driver would end up getting very hurt.... Physically hurt from getting into an accident, and mentally traumatized from not being able to comprehend the seriousness of their "consenting actions", and ignorance to the facts to the actual responsibilities it takes to safely drive a car.... Ignorance is bliss, until the stark reality of injury ensues.... Maybe not a fully plausible tangent because there is the possibility for others to get hurt as well.... But still holds some ties to the "being physically and mentally ready" comments from before - as it relates to age vs. maturity....
A 13 year old girl is totally capable of sex for pleasure or for procreation. Again, how would you draw the line?
Quote: So that is the question.... Where does one draw the line, and why....? With the wide range of individual development of maturity, could it be safe...? Maybe for some, perhaps it *could*.... But, if a 12 year old is consenting out of ignorance, does that still make it "acceptable"...? And all of this so far is totally leaving out the issues of STD's, and pregnancy.... Is one to just ASSUME that the older "partner" is going to be safe, use protection, and be "responsible"....? Is the best way to learn how to swim to jump straight in the deep end of a muddy pond....?
Again, I can't say exactly what I think. I can say that I think that sexual relations between 'children' and 'adults' will be eventually changed in the public's eye to a non-negative thing/ The local strip clubs advertise girls that are "barely legal", magazines and sites like that fill the internet and the porno shops. Older men like younger looking women, and I think that as younger females get sexual and dress /behave sexually at younger ages, men will become more attracted to them and the sexual contact will be more normalized.
Quote: 1) How many times have you "coerced" a girl to have sex with you?
Eh, using force, none. Using flattery, flowers, dinner, wine, MDMA, pot? Pretty often.
Quote: 2) Would you say that a man engaging in oral sex with a 10 year old, with her consent, is acceptable?
To me? No. But I also can't narrow down the specific time or age that I would find it acceptable. I also don't find prostitution "acceptable" for myself, but I wouldn't want to prohibit others from freely engaging in the action.
Quote: 3) If a person isn't a 'pedophile' as per the definition, they can bang a 12 year old?
I think that she would be, in some cases, physically able to experience oragsm, penetration and she would be physiologically able to procreate. Is it my place to decide if shes "able" to give concent? I'm not sure.
Quote: 4) And finally MY question(s) to you.... What is it that invoked you to challenge me in this debate...? Is it just for the act of debating, or has there been an actual situation in your life that is making you try to idealize and defend the act of sex at a young age - no matter what the circumstances...? Curious as to why your young age questions seem to be focused between 10 and 13.... And also curious as to your drive in digging for my opinions.... Makes me curious of your age and gender, but not needed....
I just like debating things. When I see a "logical hole", I try to expose it. I've had three hour debates with people who's conclusions I totally agreed with and espoused but I disliked their logical methods of reaching them. As my code of morality is centered on the idea that the most moral action is one that doesn't inflict harm on others or force them to do anything against their will, it would be hard for me to have a concrete opinion on this. If a 15 year old girl who was mature and sophisticated enough wanted to do so, I wouldn't see a problem with her having a threesome. I just don't know where I'd say that it's morally wrong or where I'd say that it isn't. Abstract concepts like "how old..." are hard to answer. I wouldn't tell a 14 year old that she can't have sex with her 15 year old boyfriend, and somehow we all seem to forget that we started experimenting at that age.
