karo idea/question

hey, i was wondering if i could make a big batch using the ration of karo 1ml to 100ml of water. then put a desired amount into 1/2 pint jars, and then microwave the jars with the tops off. is there a way i can do this? once they are sterilized in the microwave, i would immediately put the lids on while they are still hot inside the microwave.

No. First off you cant sterilize substrate in the microwave. You can't sterilize stuff with the lids off. You don't sterilize stuff after injecting it with spores or liquid myc. The normal karo recipe is a teaspoon per 100ml of water, though I like to use a tablespoon myself. And finally, you need to do alot more reading.

my bad on the 1ml to 100ml i fucked up on that. yeah i know i have to read more about it. the only reason i asked is b.c many people seem to have success sterilizing in the microwave. i guess im still trying to justify not needed a pc. if only i had more money!

the buddha under my name is some beautiful home grown cali mist. it was my best crop to date. hydroponically grown mother, cuttlings were matured in a cheapo-aero-cloner (over at overgrow.com), then put under the 400HPS scrog style. not bad for only my 3rd grow.

Not bad at all...I dont have much of a green thumb..working on it myself and ust got a new 400HPS myself thinking of scrogs...cool :smile:

If you have heard of many success' sterilizing substrate in the microwave then you heard many lies. What you may have heard is people having success without a PC, but you dont do it in the nuker, PF Tek jars can be boiled for 30-60 minutes with success. Though on ebay PC's are pretty cheap, I've gotten 2, a 23 quart for 20 bucks shipped and a 21 quart for 30 bucks shipped..each holds 10 1/2 quart jars and 9 1/2 quart jars, respectivly.

If your going to move up to hole grains you'll need a PC at that point and a PC will help your contam rate with PF jars but you could do some PF jars, get some money, a PC, then move to grains..assuming you want to..you could just stick with the PF substrate..many people have had some good success if you can do it right. You cant take shortcuts like microwaving though. Read the PF Tek for simple minds if you can find it and follow it to a T.

you can microwave your karo water yes.....people do it all the time..i don't but others do, i know i have seen post.. but like scat said not grains nor any substrate
