I agree, but the majority vote of the administration appears to side differently.

We knew some people would feel this way, but you should understand that we removed the restrictions in order to help keep the site more in line with its purpose. When OTD wasn't available to new members, we ended up with a lot more off-topic posts in other forums which distracted from their focus. Although there are concerns that OTD can draw attention away from the mycological aspects of the site, ultimately we feel that it is up to our members to decide which aspects of the site they wish to pursue.
