Elevating/"Hovering" Cakes?
    #341095 -

Has anyone tried to stick the cakes on some sort of pole, and elevate them? So there is no "ground" beneath them, and they can grow freely into the air?

How do you think this would work? My friend wanted me to ask for him.

Yeah, that's what my friend wanted to do. Hopefully someone has tried this. His mushrooms are growing out the bottom and coming out all funny, no matter what sides he puts it on, so he wants to try that.

I remember reading about someone running a skewer through several cakes and fruiting them on the stick. Sounds good to me (unless the cake falls apart).

It was Alder...then known as Ellisd.trip...
it was sort of a cake matrix with a row of cakes on skewers, suspended in the chamber...

looked great for doing cakes.

i don't think you could use a wooden skewer in a high humidity environment, i use them often to hold bags around plant cuttings and the sticks become mouldy within days...

the best stick-like object to use would be something thin and plastic/metal right? interesting idea tho... so if that hanging cake idea, sort of like a birdfeeder.. sounds good to me, might have to give it a try

So if you made the jars a la Pf Tek, would you hang them with the verm. side up or down? Could the mycelium grow through the verm layer (I've still never tried casings) and fruit on both sides? Or would it work better to scrape off the vermiculite? Hmmm... Shecky

"Fuck what you heard, you ain't heard this before..."
