Should I sit my cake directly on perlite?

The above link is my last post. notice the water damage on bottom. Someone says sit the cake directly on the perlite. yea or nay? Most people say use a lid or something to elevate the cake and I did and got water damage. My next idea is to use the underside of a jar lid, fill it with dry perlite and sit the cake on that

Put your cakes on pieces of aluminum foil. Why would dry perlite be good to put your cakes on?

Edit-ok, I read that you already had them on aluminum foil, put them on jar lids.

I've heard to set the cakes on top of something. i.e. jar tops and only set them directly on the perlite if they dry out or after a good flush.

I don't use perlite anymore, but I have a little wire shelf for my cakes/casings to sit on, keeping them away from standing water. You can use chickenwire or something similar, and just bend it into whatever shape you need.

...did you know theres a 'search' function in this forum..?
