Set cakes directly on perlite?
    #550723 -

When using a "poor-man-like" terrarium, is it better to set the cakes directly onto the damp perlite, or to put the perlite in a saucer off to the side?

Set them on the perlite. Your cakes will drink the water and start to pin faster.

Ok thank you. How much perlite is usually used...? I am guessing just throw some in there and make it level...not a lot, not too little ..hell, I don't know...I think I'll go with angryshroom's method of mixing (4 cups water, 3/4 cup peroxide I think he said) but he didn't give an amount of perlite..I guess it varies to fit the size of your terrarium.

Just to make myself clear I would strain that perlite so there isn't an overwhelming amount of liquid in that terrarium = )

Yes do the 3/4 cup peroxide. It really dose not matter how much Perlite you use.

Yeah, that's what I've always done I would put the perlite in a large pot and fill with water until it was like 2 inches above the perlite. I would let this sit for about 2 hours and then throw the perlite into a collander or strainer and let drain. Then you have some nice moist perlite to throw in your grow chamber. Peace.
