parts within TiT setup
    #3409902 - 11/25/04 11:19 PM (12 years, 16 days ago)

hey this is most likely a trivial quesiton, but i can fit a pair of sterilite (shoebox size) trays into my tub, but i can also fit about 6 small square aluminum foil baking pans. obviously since the alum.'s are smaller i will have less substrate in each, thus less mushroom in a pan opposed to the sterilite thingy. question is, will using the pans affect the grand picture of what this tub will produce? i am only considering the pans because if unlucky circumstances occured and a contam appeared, it would be contained and removed w/o the typical "surgery". also, if the aluminums are needless or a bad idea, does it matter that i'll be painting the outside of the sterilites w/ black paint? any contam risks? and lastly (sorry its so long) does anyone see any problems involved with lining a closed cabinet w/ aluminum foil, putting in a heat rock or heater (suspended) and using that as another chamber?

TiT isn't a growing chamber.. its an incubation chamber... i'm not sure what you are asking. :o

Nah, I used to wrap electrical tape around mine.

Yeah, or just make a little tent with a black plastic trash bag.

You mean PmP I hope, as said by lesstutry TiT is a tub in tub incubator, you would not want to incubate a casing to fruit.

couldnt you use a TiT to incubate and then fruit? I mean if you lower the TiT temp to 70-75 degrees and use whatever your preference for creating RH? The only downside is cleaning it every time after fruiting to incubate again. --edited to say also the jars wont finish colonizing at the same time so where would you put them

well i would just use multiple TiT setups. one for incubation, 1-2 for fruiting. i could easily lower the constant temp down to a nice 75. cleaning would be easy using either shoebox size trays or disposable baking pans. i guess the name would change to PmP when i use it for fruiting, but does much really need to change? i have plans to hook up some air pumps in the future, but right now, its just going to be a couple air holes covered with some coffee filter paper on the sides of the fruiting tank. am i not covering certain bases??

kido, i throw my casings in the incubator for 2-3 days so they can colonize the casing layer. did you forget about that?
