shroomerys "dicks picks"
    #3387299 -

post your favorite dead show.

Sepetember 18 1974
Parc des Expositions, Dijon, France (wednesday)

It's a quality recording and I think they were afraid to dissappoint in front of their international audience. The pressure lends itself to an excellent run of shows and this one in particular. Lots of lengthy songs which ring true to that classic dead sound.

cheers!

AHHHH, Englishtown, NJ. What memories.
We used to go see the drag racing there. Camp all weekend in a cornfield, watch the top fuelers run into the night time, great times. Prolly a nice place to see the dead
peace...

I actually did this and published 4 volumes called "Shroomery Picks"

I mailed hundreds of CD's out and many people helped burn and distribute the Cd's

KK did quite a bit of work on it too, and at one time Shriek let me use his web site to host the compilation for download.

if you do a search you may find the old posts in the pub.

Yeah, Shroomery Picks! Ripple your the man for putting all those together!

It would be kinda hard for me to pick just one fav, just way to many good shows out there. But the first one that pops in my head right now is May 4th 1977, It Must Have Been The Roses, Cassidy, Deal, Looks Like Rain, Brown Eyed Women, Dancing In The Street to end the first set! And the second set is unreal, ending with Terrapin Station-> Playin' In The Band-> Comes A Time-> Playin' In The Band!!

link to show  http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=12274&from=dbetreeDetails

And another show i've been digin is Aug 7th 1982 at East Troy this set list truly rocks, http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15182&from=dbetreeDetails

Set 1 The Music Never Stopped-> Sugaree-> The Music Never Stopped, Me & My Uncle-> Big River, It Must Have Been The Roses, CC Rider, Ramble On Rose, Beat It On Down The Line-> On The Road Again, Althea, Let It Grow
Set 2 China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider, Women Are Smarter, Ship of Fools, Playin' In The Band-> Drums-> The Wheel-> Playin' In The Band-> Morning Dew-> One More Saturday Night, E: U.S. Blues

no shit? when did this happen?

i have a similiar plan as well...
I have downloaded *.shn files from every known dead database known (to me) so far, converted them to wav's then to 256kb mp3's.
I'm in the process of verifying the shows through deadbase and deadlists.
I'm also logically tagging the files with song names, tracks, notes and renaming local files for easy searching from within popular media programs.
This has been in the works for over a year now.

So instead of sending out a couple of burned cd's here and there, I could clone the hard disk to another and send it back to you all.
Kinda like a "blanks and postage" type of deal...

Whadyathink?

Shrommery Picks was awsome! Its been a long time since we did this, but all us heads pick out fav's and complied them in to a seires of diffrent themed cds! I really liked this cauz i've only gotta 28k hook up and downloading is only a dream! So how many show you talking about?

and i'm cofused about the cloning of the hard disk, would that be like copying the tunes to a external hard drive and trading those?

Yes. You would send me a blank hard disk with enough space on it to accomodate all the music (IDE or SATA). I would clone my library to your disk and send it back to you. You would be instantly cool with the veritable library of the best music ever recorded.

I won't be completed with this project until early 2005.
It's very time intensive.

Wow sounds great!!!!!!

We had fun with shroomery picks because we all pitched in to pick the songs in threads here in the pub.

picks one was just a compilation of great stuff, I believe Great American music hall was on there.

Two was Jerry band:

Three was "the old days"

(lots of pigpen and 60's stuff)

I forget what 4 was, actually i don't think it ever got completed.

If there were songs I didn't have someone else would burn them and mail them to me.........K_C sent me quite a bit of stuff!

People also donated blank CD's it was lots of fun!

A lot of work though to burn all those cd's and mail them out.
