Popcorn 2 Rye / Popcorn 2 Honey ....

Hello folks,

My popcorn jar is colonizing and before I case it I want to save some mycelium.

2 questions;
- can i transfer some popcorn to rye to inoculate it?
- Can i use it to inoculate liquid culture ?

Some have success with pasta, some do not. Currently I am in the no success group. Read the rotini thread in the grow log section.

I don't know if there's a tek, but I'll whip a little something up here...

Get your glovebox loaded with colonized grain container, some sterilized liquid media(karo, honey, etc), and tweezers or a spoon. Then close the box, insert hands, and sterilize with whatever you like(lysol, alcohol). Once that has evaporated get your sterilized hands in the box and open the grain container. Then open your liquid media container. Now take the tweezers or spoon and take a few grains and put them into the liquid media. Seal both containers. Open the glovebox, remove liquid media and incubate.

Make sense?

Yes! Makes sense. Gloveboxes are expensive though, but couldnt I just use a plastic bag (or some kind of box with holes in it and some latex gloves?) which I cleaned with alcohol?
Or is the "oven tek"a better idea when one hasnt got a glovebox?

Do a search on glovebox and do a bunch of reading. There are plenty of ways to make one cheap yet effective.

Get a box cover in plastic.Spray with lysol.When it dry's go to work.
Remember to wear rubber gloves.Also saw a guy use a plastic bag.If it works,do it. GL
