I have recently made great success with the PF TEK. Now I realized how much patience you need to grow, but am already looking at ways to speed it up! I plan on getting some liquid myc soon (once my jars come in) and shoot up 2 jars of each of these Tek/Substrate Formulas: - Niner Tek (using Brown Rice, will this work good for his tek?) - Ryche Hawks Tek - WBS - Popcorn - Cracked Corn and maybe another two PF TEK Jars.. My question is, do you SUGGEST putting the dry verm layer in any of these jars? (mainly people who have used these methods and have exp. with them) **I will be using 1/2 - 1 pint sized jars** Any other comments/suggestions appreciated, Thanks!

Dude, just follow Magash's rye tek or the popcorn tek. Just a big hole in a quart or pint jar, put down the lid, then the Tyvek disc, then the band. Of course, soak the grain or popcorn or corn for 24 hours, simmer for 45 minutes, drain for an hour, load jars to 2/3, apply tyvek as described. Oh, and the hole for the syringe innoc. I'm totally a newb, but I did Magash's rye tek first, then G2G'd to some popcorn quarts.....grains are really easy as long as your clean or use a glovebox. Don't worry about a dry layer on top of the jar substrate. Just go for it. Like Rocky V, man.

It did though..you said comments/suggestions..everone made theyre comments and suggestions that you go about your grow a different way. You should not use dry verm when using grans, you also only use 1 point of innoculation because you can shake the grains. You also need to use a filter (either tyvek, a filter disk or polyfil). You also should use quart jars for grains, not half pint jars. You wont get cakes out of these and will need to case them. Doing 2 1/2 pint, or even pint jars, isnt going to give you much substrate to case. Not to mention a quart jar of grain should be done about the same time as a half pint of PF substrate (about 2 weeks from spores, 1 week from myc). I also think you should do some more research then rule out some of your substrates and work with bigger more jars of each to really tell you what you want. Youd be best just doing rye berries and possibly WBS or popcorn. Preperation for these is a pain though and a waste to do in such a small amount. Also you will need to PC grains unlike the PF Tek and will need to soak and simmer. See Magashs posts..including the one linked above.
Hope I answered some questions..
