i think its overkill but thats not a bad price i guess. I mean, do you have a problem with your PMP contaming? If problems then yes, maybe. But i run a hepa in my room already, I add an oxidizing agent to the water in the perlite; I have a filter built into my pump

I'm not sure how much use the air diffusers would be... usually bubblewands are used.
That 0.1 micron ULPA filter is quite interesting.. I wonder how much air it flows.

Flow rate of 85 slpm at 10 psid (slpm is standard liter per minute, psid is differential pounds-per-square-inch)
what ever that means

That is nice.. I had been looking for something exactly like that for a PmP for a while. I wonder if you could find a similar one locally. Also, how badly would it restrict airflow? Anyone have experience with these?

Hmm.. Well, 10psi is a LOT of pressure.. our little air pumps don't come anywhere near that...
But, our little pumps only do 1-2 LPM. I guess it depends on if you need pressure to push the air through the filter, or if smaller quantities will flow with much less pressure. Maybe if I ever have the extra money, I will pick a few up.
Yes, it's probably overkill, but you can never be too sterile.

Usually, the rating is based on max capacity. Flowrate is what's important. Standard means at STP(standard temperature 0C and pressure 1atm or 14.7psia) the 10psid is rated pressure drop across when you are having 85 liters per hour flow through the filter.
If it's cheap enough, you can definitely use that with confidence.

Ahh.. So, at 85LPM, the pressure drop across the filter is 10psi below ATM?
I've been thinking of doing away with the regular diaphram air pumps all together and getting one of these...
Well, shit. I guess the person who was selling them on eBay isn't doing so anymore.
Anyway, it was a linear air pump, Sonic model 2201.. 32,000cc/minute @ 2.9PSI.
It was like 55$, but with 32kcc/min, you could run like 10 PMPs....

lol. no. 10psid is the difference. pressure upstream of filter will be 10psia(absolute) above downstream side, thus the "difference"(aka PSID) or "pressure drop".

You know when you buy bubble wands, they include the little plastic thing to reduce backflow in case of a power outage? I was thinking about cutting it in half and filling it with polyfill then krazy gluing it back together, maybe touching up with silicone...
It would look so cool, and the hoses would fit right to it.
Daydreaming....

That's a checkvalve. Those things cost more than filters generally.

If you had to buy them separately. Some pumps include them, too. But those are like $3-$5 a piece compared to 2-3 bucks for filters.

Oh gotcha, well the 14in bubblewands I got from WMart came with em, I was gonna just toss them because they didnt look like they were worth the trouble, but maybe filling with polyfill and removing the stopper would be a neat filter.
