Bubblewand Question...
    #4326528 - 06/22/05 10:41 PM (13 years, 1 hour ago)

I am toying with the idea of further customizing my fruiting chamber for a future grow. However I have a question about bubblewands and air rocks... Is the air introduced by these sterile? Im not sure how they work, do they just circulate air, or do they introduce new air from the outside... and if so is that air somehow filtered?

Thanx,
KimiKiri

If it is it's not filtered to the point of sterility.. But if your casings, or cakes are fully colonized they will stave off contams very effectively. I run a coolmist into my fruiting chamber 24 hrs a day, and still haven't lost a casing to contams.. When they get old I just spawn them to poo..

I currently have two 2" diameter holes covered in tyvek in the side of my fruiting chamber. I am flirting with the bubblewand idea + adding an ultrasonic fogger. Everyone think this would work out ok?

Yep. I do.. If you already have 2" holes the fogger would be pretty much necessary, if you just ran an air pump in there things would dry out quickly...

kimikiri, if you just want to use a standard air pump with your bubble wands/airstones (I suggest bubble wands over the airstones), just go to walmart and purchase some polyfil.  it is in the section with pillows and will cost you all of 2-3 bux.  Then just fill up a shoe box with the polyfil and put your airpump in there.  The air sucked in by the pump will be filtered by the polyfil enough for any purposes you're looking for.  I usually get 4-6 flushes per casing before I ever see a contam using this method.... GL bro :stoned:

PS.. What up everyone!  Its been a while since I've been on here (legal trouble), but I missed you all... you know who you are!

That's good advice. Polyfill will also keep the noise down.

Some air pumps already have a built in air filters in the intake... look on the bottom or the side and see if you see a hole with white filter material in it.

Good luck.
