The bottle is filled with pollyfil, air goes in one end (passes through the pollyfil) and out the other end, hopfuly cleaned of all contaminants.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm dunno if it will work, but is a very good idea! this along, with a bublle stone into h2o2/h2o, would prolly really help. hmmmmmmmm wheels are turning lol
hows the airflow? does that much polyfill ( i assume its packed tight) restrict the flow much?

Quite interesting really.

I bet it would work fine. Considering that I had my air pump blowing in air normally for the past few months and havent had any contam issues, id say youd be safe

That design should work, you know you should look through the threads for an inline hepa filter.
Where did you get the polyfil?

thats pretty cool, Its nice to see ppl still thinking. Im sure it will work fine, I made one once that worked like a bong, it perculated the air through some peroxide.

It dosn't cut down on air flow much, with the polyfill packed fairly tight. angryshroom, glad to hear you have sucess w/o any fiter, that gives me more confidence (this is going to be my first attempt at growing mushrooms). Im also glad to hear that you guys think my filter will work. The threads on the inline hepa filters is what gave me the idea Guess im just trying to get by as cheaply as possible for now. I got the polyfil from walmart.

I just wanted to say, I think that's an excellent idea. As often as polyfil is recommended as a cheap alternative to expensive filters, I can't imagine someone coming in a blasting it as a bad idea.

I'll just assume that you sterilized the bottle in some manner before simply filling with polyfil. Looks great.

I still love the inline filters for $8.50, but it's great to see some new ideas.

lol dude, we would get along great . im as freakin frugal as you can get.... if i can find/make something cheaper than buy it, i am one happy assed camper.
