Side pinning and eating immature shrooms..

I have two small casings made from half pints that have been fruiting for a week and a half. I made them in little ziploc plastic microwaveable containers, but I only covered the clear sides with electrical tape when they went in the chamber.  :thumbdown:

So, now, I can see they fruited excessively on the sides and bottom from receiving light whilst incubating: and spitting puny ass shrooms on top. It's in a pmp, so there's constant air exchange but I'm worried the shrooms will rot growing on the insides of the casing.

My q is: would it be safe to pop these cases out in a relatively sterile environment, pick all the little shrooms (they are no more than 2 shelled peanuts in size, but have nice little marble sized caps), crumble the myc in BOTH cases and make one larger casing, hydrate, and incubate and re-fruit, EVEN though the first flush hasn't ended yet? I just figure the ones on the sides and bottom which no longer receive light are more mature than their pitiful top-side counterparts.

Oh yeah, could I still trip on these tiny things?

Yes you can dose off the little ones as well. You will increase your chances of contams by crumbling a used casing somewhat. You also have the flat cake option to consider. :wink: Either way GL :laugh:

ya... just pop it out of it's case and fruit it like a giant cake...even flip it over....kramer used to see this all the time....

I just leave it as is. They come up from the sides sometimes for me. Certain strains do it more (GT). They grow nice and big and no longer need light to grow so will continue to even though you taped the sides.
