Crumbling Onto Perilite

I don't even bother using any casing containers anymore.. I crumbled 4 small cakes directly onto the perilite in my terrarium then covered them with up with casing mixtures.. nice looking little mounds.. plus you don't have to worry bout shrooms growin out the sides of the casing..

Sounds like an interesting method. I was thinking of just dumping my casings out of the container onto the perlite after it all knitted back together, to form a big cake like brick.

I don't care about jack shit, I just wanna pick my nose!!!

Thats what I did at first johnny.. I crumbled 4 cakes into 4 seperate mini casings.. then once they grew together and colonized fully with mycelium.. I dumped em out.. then once they finished flushing their shrooms.. I crumbled em once again right onto the perilite and just covered em with more casing mix... now the mycelium is again taking over the casing layer.

are you using dry perlite? cause my perlite is soaked with water and hydrogen peroxide and i think if i did that it would hurt the mycelium.

dry perilite? what's the point? perilite needs to be wet.. and yes there is peroxide on it.. maybe a total of 25 - 50 ml misted around.. shouldn't make any diff
