Are different strains more potent than others?
Ive searched and only found mixed answers. Some say all are the same whereas ive heard some strains offer more visuals?
Is this true or false?

They're all very close to the same, and for a beginner whose less-than-perfect technique is likely to account for a huge variation in yield and potency, the tiny variations from one strain to another will be lost in the noise.
You'll get more mileage out of reading the FAQ and improving your technique than you will ever get out of choosing one strain over another.
Later, when you have more experience, you'll learn the subtle quirks of each strain and be able to exploit them to improve yield and potency.
The only good advice about strain selection for a newbie is to stay away from oddball strains like Penis Envy or glow-in-the-dark strains.

Lots.
Differences between Azures, cyans, pans, cubies ect isnt the same. Thats potency between species. Strain is one step down. Like between Z's and Cambodians and Golden Teachers, Equadors ect.
I feel there is but there is a difference between each shroom as well. Theres no way to exactly tell which strain is stronger for this reason. Personally I enjoy the Z trip. Alot of it is in your mind but the amount of actives in shrooms varies alot from shroom to shroom and strain to strain and even more species to species.

Substrains would be further. Like I isolated fast mycelium using agar and now have a substrain of my GT's that colonizes very fast (and fruits slow BTW). I could be wrong though, its been known to happen.

its your gt if probably slow to fruit because it such a strong colonizer that it has a hard time switching out of that mode.

Different substrain, not strain. But every substrain and every casing and every mushroom does vary in potency.
Yes curious, that was exactly my thinking  A cold shock helped alot which would have slowed the growth adding more sustance to this theory I'll just have to iniate sooner, make a slightly thicker casing layer and cold shock..easy enough...they are comming in now and I just got some fruits off one dries..soo thick, even dry. Just massive looking shrooms that really look like they could teach you something. Picturesqe. Short but just yummy looking.

you don't get visuals from smoking mushrooms, IMO. i've done it before and i can tell you, it was a waste of mushrooms. it did stretch that dank ass blueberry we got... the high was a bit different, but no trip.

Smoking shrooms gives you a 20 minute head buzz and is a waste of them. You might as well introduce them to your body anally if you are going to smoke them.

Hello, I'm just getting set to order spores for the first time and the one book I have bought seems to offer an extra initial step than the PF Tek offered in the shroomery does not. I'm wondering if it is really necessary or not. The book is by Oss and Oeric and is called Psilocybin: Magic mushroom grower's guide. They suggest that when you first start with a spore print or syringe that you inoculate a petri plate and then after inoculation you isolate a single strain of dikaryotic mycelium with a scalpel. You then use this single strain to inoculate your jars and go from there. They say this is necessary because each plate inoculated by a spore print will have dozens of different strains of dikaryotic mycelium growing on it and that it is best to grow stock inocula from a single uniform strain. so my question is: can I skip this step and just inoculate a bunch of jars with a spore syringe and continue from there?
Also, my second question is should I order a couple of different strains (Ecuador, and B+ is what I was thinking) or should I just keep things simple and start with either/or? Thanks
