No... legally by the laws in place before the election. Despite the efforts of the Gore team team the law triumphed.

And of course that pesky constitution.

--------------------
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

You can't lose an election, sue to get recounts in only counties where you know you will gain more votes, sue for more recounts when the first 3 show you lost, and then sue to change the election law of the state to allow your never ending recounts, get a thumbs up from an all Democrat State Supreme court, and finally when when the supreme court finds your recounts severely flawed less than a week from the electoral deadline, and THEN claim the election was stolen from you.

The facts are that Gore was the one who was trying to override the constitution to allow him to manufacture enough votes to give him a win. The Supreme Court didn't help Bush steal the election, they stopped Al Gore from doing it.

the right-wing twits cant produce a single link to back their case..but i have two ..

based on the US civil rights commission report (no..its not a conspiracy-theory page)..whatever election laws that were in place were never followed..hence the thumbs-up from the FL supreme court (never mind that they didnt have the report)...

vincent "helter skelter" bugliosi details the SCOTUS ruling ..

Quote:
And if the Court's five-member majority was concerned not about Bush but the voters themselves, as they fervently claimed to be, then under what conceivable theory would they, in effect, tell these voters, "We're so concerned that some of you undervoters may lose your vote under the different Florida county standards that we're going to solve the problem by making sure that none of you undervoters have your votes counted"? Isn't this exactly what the Court did?

and i wouldnt try to argue against vincent bugliosi unless you guys are lawyers...but the SCOTUS ruling..however perverse..is still the final law..so i dont dispute that bush was legally elected...

OTOH..whether or not the SCOTUS stole the 2000 election for bush wont matter when bush wins by a landslide in november...
