Peyote - More Alkaloids, How Many Are Active?

And has anyone studied them on their own? It's very interesting that peyote is such a different experience, given it's high alkaloid content, it seems to have a synergy effect from what I've read.

With all of the different forms of Tyramine in there, it is very clear why you are NOT supposed to use MAOI's with it.... If you studied all of those different alkaloids on their own, it would take years....!! (Or one hell of a weekend...!)

As far as I know, some of the Peyote alkaloids are active on their own and have various different psychedelic or euphoric effects, whereas others have a synergestic effect as you said which alters the effects of the mescaline and other active alkaloids. Then theres probably a couple in there that aren't active or synergestic at all, or occur in such small quantities as to not make a difference.

I'm sure theres been work done on at least some of these alkaloids by themselves. I'd look for stuff by Shulgin, Ott, etc. I heard that Shulgin is currently writing a book about the legal cactus alkaloids and that he's doing extractions on cacti previously thought to be non-active. I read that about a year ago so maybe he's finished it by now, though I haven't heard of it being released yet. Anyone know?
