Agar on the cakes?
    #3145355 - 09/16/04 07:50 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

Now that I'm sure I'll be growing soon, can I use agar on its own or should I somehow mash it up and put it on the cakes?

Sorry if my question is stupid, I'm new to the whole shroom-growing thing.

Alright... Not quite what I had in mind... I'm just wondering how much of an advantage I'll see from adding agar to the mix...

What I meant before was... do I add the agar while I'm making the cakes or do I add it after they start to colonize?

probably none. people use agar to spawn grain. If you put myc into grain it will colonize ALOT faster. If this is your first time stick to teh PF tek. its as easy as pie. if you dont think the cakes will handle your yeild needs, read the 50/50 casing tek!

you don't want to put agar in your cakes. period.

agar is for culturing. it is a shitty substrate. it will do you no additional benefit in a BRF cake.
