i have 4cc of panaleous cyanscens and i want to try a different substrate. i have 12 jars with a mix of manure verm and brf and two have started colonizing. i want to use my other 4cc on a different substrate to get different results and compare, so i have some knowledge of my own. if anyone could tell me a could substrate for a semi-begiiner panaleous cultivator (the 12 jars that have two already colonizing are my first time) that wants two have the substrate colonize quicker then let me know. or if you know a substrate that gives good, begginner, yeilds then also let me know.

steep birdseed on the stove for about 45 minutes at a low boil. add a small handfull of gypsum to the pot, mix, re-rinse with more waterand then drain out the water.
Make sure that your lids have a small hole taped over w' electric tape or somthing similar so you can inject it later. also dont forget a polyfill filter & cover w' foil. P.C. for 1 1/2 hours @ 15p.s.i. in a pint or quart jar ( only 1/2 to 3/4th full of seed. After it is cooked, cooled, then use the oven tek to safely inject 1 cc into the hole, and retape the hole. it would be safe to recover the lid w' aluminum foil untill the growth is well underway. use this to spawn pasturised dung and you will be amazed.

Two other recipies:
For 1 pint jar:
40 ml rye grass seed
40 ml vermiculite
150 ml dry dung(from a bag from the garden suply)
125 ml water.
Put in a jar, close tight, shake well.
Take down the lid, cover with aluminium foil, sterilize for 1 hour in a PC, inoculate with an agar wedge.
Once colonized, case with a very thin layer of 50/50+ casing.
Same temperature as for cubensis

Re: Pan Trop on rye? [re: paddoholland]
We did it like this:
* Presoak the grass seed for one night in water.
* Mix 2 parts of dried dung with one part of vermiculite
* Add water to the dung/vermic mixture until fully wet but not soggy.
* Mix equal parts of soaked grass seed and dung/vermic mxiture.
* Sterile the dung/vermic/grass seed mixture for 2 hours in autoclave bags.
* Let the bags cool in the laminar flow cabinet.
* Inoculate the bags with 300 ml of colonised rye grain spawn.
* Seal the bags with an impulse sealer.
* Shake the bags every 3-4 days.
* After 10 days the mixture is completely colonised and the bags are cut open.
* The mixture is filled into 1 liter trays and cased with 1 cm of peat/lime/vermic/ mixture.
* The trays are put in darkness to let the mycelium grow through the casing soil (3-4 days)
* The trays are put in a clear plastic bin to induce fruiting. They are watered daily.
* After 5 days pins formed and these developed into mature mushrooms in 6 days.
Beware that pressure cooking the dung mixture will seriuously make your kitchen smell like a farm!!!
