panaleous cyanescens mycelium

i have never cultivated panaleouse before and now that my first attempt looks fully colinized i am not sure whether its the right stuff or not. theres no discoloration, most of the "mycelium" is either a thick white, and theres some weak colored, but realy rizmorphic gray strands. the white parts have some really thick rizmorphic strands but mostly just round circles. this looks like good mycelium to me (from my past psilocybin cultivations) but i keep reading that the mycelium of panaleouse is supposed to be really thin and wispy, and deffinetely not rizmorphic. the substrate i used was:

5 cups vermiculite
3 cups manure
10 tablespoons brf
and it was around 2 cups water to make the substrate just a little more than moist

i took those ingrediants and mixed them up and put them in 1/2 pint mason jars, and sterilized them the pf tek way but for 10 minutes longer.

hey, you got to be genuine thats the name of this game. if you're real, then you aint got nothing to worry about, but if youre synthetic then starting tomorrow you're balls come off!

That?s how a grasseed/dung/vermiculite/water mixture inoculated with rye spawn looks after 10 days of incubating.

I took this pic yesterday.
I will leave them a few more days, then case.
Perhaps I should point out, that I made substrate was relatively dry. When squized in the hand, there was barely a water drop comming out.

I used Unas tek:

We did it like this:

* Presoak the grass seed for one night in water.
* Mix 2 parts of dried dung with one part of vermiculite
* Add water to the dung/vermic mixture until fully wet but not soggy.
* Mix equal parts of soaked grass seed and dung/vermic mxiture.
* Sterile the dung/vermic/grass seed mixture for 2 hours in autoclave bags.
* Let the bags cool in the laminar flow cabinet.
* Inoculate the bags with 300 ml of colonised rye grain spawn.
* Seal the bags with an impulse sealer.
* Shake the bags every 3-4 days.
* After 10 days the mixture is completely colonised and the bags are cut open.
* The mixture is filled into 1 liter trays and cased with 1 cm of peat/lime/vermic/ mixture.
* The trays are put in darkness to let the mycelium grow through the casing soil (3-4 days)
* The trays are put in a clear plastic bin to induce fruiting. They are watered daily.
* After 5 days pins formed and these developed into mature mushrooms in 6 days.
Beware that pressure cooking the dung mixture will seriuously make your kitchen smell like a farm!!!

Great! It would be awsome if you could post some more pics of your jars! it would provide for good refrence. also, maybe if you have some pics of colonized rye could you post those too?If that's not too much to ask..... I'm getting a new comp. soon w/ a digi cam. and am planning to take lot's of informative pics and posting them here and other places..... peace and thanks

I love the pics. Maybe if you have some more mycelium pics of pans - please, post them. Basicly, what i gather from these pics, is that when pan mycelium fully colonizes a given substrate, there are small hints of mycelium all over the substrate. Does this sometimes cause a problem when identifying total colonization??? Do you use a standard time scale for your innoculations if visual identification is problematic??? thanks again and peace

That?s the picture of the remains of the spawn I used to innoculate the above jars. The pic was taken today, so the mycelim has recovered again. When shaken before transfer, the visible mycelium compleately dissappears.

Thanks Anno! good stuff. Hopefuly my monkeys will be adding to this thread as they are just starting to get into electronics (of all the monkeys one has had a comp. for 4 years! :wink: )so they'r chipping their money in to get a cam![trophy]... maybe we(every one here and other places) can build this (and other Tek threads)  into a great multi-media tutorals. It's great that this board (and most other boards) support HTML so basicly it's like were all building a page.So it's not just written by "somebody" (not to put any of the webmasters out there with kick-ass web pages down) who compiled a bunch of information and/or just used their own tek. It can be a "group project" - which is basicly how mushrooms make you think: We are all part of this huge machine. So basicly the best kind of machine would be the one built with the most parts! :wink: get it ??? :laugh::crazy: (kind of StoO0o..ned right now :wink:...

But to get to he point (finaly!) the pics are awsome and i hope (for others and my monkeys) that there will be more! Knowledge should be free, for whoever you might be :smile:.... peace
