Heating Pad

First timer growing here. I'm wondering if a heating pad would be a wise way to warm the jars. I'm worried that a heating pad might make the jars too warm and kill the mycelium. The heating pad is kinda shitty though, and I have no way to perfectly measure the temperature. At it's high setting it feels like pants after they've cooled off a few minutes in the drier.
Is it too much?

Maybe fold up a towel, wouldn't put jars on heating pad. This is a tempory fix.Heating pads are a good fire hazard.Tub in tub is the best way to go.
Peace

i used a heating pad on the lowest setting at that was around 100 degrees. you need the blankets, pad by itself is way too hot.

Put the heating pad in a small plastic container so it fits somewhat tight and set your jars on something so they aren't getting to much direct heat from the pad. Then put a lid on and the radiant heat should bump up your temps sufficiently. I would suggest getting a thermometer for obvious reasons and running your pad on a timer. Set the timer to turn off the pad every 3-4 hours or so, the general concensus about heating pads is that they should not be kept on 24/7.

Yeah, the more I think about it the dumber and idea it is. I think I'll go with the fish tank heater. I'm just cheap. Thanks for all the help.

yea its so much better to just take the couple extra bucks and get a fish tank heater. In my town the cheapest place to get a heater is wal-mart a 5-15 gallon heater for 14 bucks! definately a deal. Anway just think about things like that and weather or not you want your house to burn down. Im pretty sure insurance wouldnt cover it if they found you were cultivating mushrooms and your house burnt cuz of that. IMO its just not worth the risk.

Yes i agree the tub in tub with an aquarium heater is a much better setup and worth the $20.
