I’m going to let this one ride. I have 2 more shoeboxes not far behind. I was thinking I’d case one with peat/ vermiculite and peel the other, you know, for science.

Glad a took the time to read all the posts! Although I haven't posted in here yet, I too have a monotub of zinnii going. My first thought when I looked at it this morning was  "its overlayed" to case or not to case? To fork or not to fork? Figured id check here to see how everything was going for yall. Guess ill leave it for now. May do up a casing if it doesn't start doing something soon.

It has completely ate through the coir casing and seems to be overlaying again. I added a casing of course vermiculite on half of one of my tubs. I am seeing blue and brown mycelium in one tub as well.
I'm not looking these are talking this long to fruit. If my semperviva bins fruit before this does I'm not going to go any further with this isolated culture but I will let it ride to see how shit goes.
I will try MS to see if I can get it to fruit any faster.

I feel ya, if I diden’t have 4 other projects going i’d be getting impatient. I cased tub #2 a couple days ago with peat/ vermiculite. My original tub has that same coloration you described. If It doesn’t pin soon I’ll try giving it a good soaking.

That makes me feel better about the colors! I know some species it's normal for so I didn't immediately toss it out. Maybe my temps are too cold, but other tubs are pinning and growing like mad.

Six days since I last posted. Still havent noticed any difference  to my tub. Its looking pretty overlayed,  but no discoloration of mycelium. I loosened the polyfil in my top holes to try and get more fae. Fanned it with the lid once and soaked up a couple small puddles of water off the substrate. Ill make a casing this week sometime if I can remember to do so. Otherwise, it'll just sit there doing nothing I guess. My enigma is faster than this zinnii isolate.

The mycelium is eating the verm casing. It smells shroomy but clean which I really do not expect when looking at the colors on the myc. I gave it a good misting since it's been sitting for almost a full month. I'll give it a few more days before I punish it.
Jars of the MS are colonizing quickly compared to other cubes I got going too. Hopefully I find a faster culture with it.

I've seen brown enzymes red enzymes and orange enzymes from different types of fungi evin seen a sappy grey enzyme idk I'm not a expert though fungi is cool af :popcorn::lol:

I cased it with vermiculite a little while ago but I honestly think it's just time. If I start getting more pins on that side and not the uncased side, I'll say casing helps but I'm thinking it doesn't. You were right behind me so I imagine your going to see something very soon.
If you notice the knots around the pin, they are the only ones I see. Nothing going on with the uncased side except for more blue and brown color. Maybe a small bump that wasn't there before, like yours. My other tub looks the same as the uncased, funky as all hell but smells good.

I do have a jar of MS spawn ready to go to a tub but I'm out of tubs. Maybe I'll toss one that on it's 2nd flush to get this going.
