Grew a PF cake inoculated from a cube print/MS syringe that had two mushrooms with very different color spores right next to each other.  I have not seen this kind of diversity from a come from a cake before.




The original print was dark gray/black.  I realize that MS can give all kinds of genetic diversity, is there any significant differences in properties for phenotypes with brown spores? Do the brown spores come from genetic contributions from a certain strain that was previously part of the original print?

It's a cube called 'Lani' - I think it's a cross of B+ and something else.  All the other prints I've taken from this were gray/black; this is the third print to cake 'generation' that I've done.

You'll need to physically figure out what field capacity is. Brands and batches can vary a lot.

As mentioned, when you squeeze it tightly, only a drop should come out, if anymore than that is dripping out, add vermiculite until you reach 1 drop:):mushroom2:

You'll be golden then :rockon:

I usually do it so there is a drop with a light squeeze and steady flow with a gorilla grip squeeze. Is that not field capacity?

Stipeโ€™s got a video on his YouTube advocating for a recipe that gives you something more in this range. Maybe not quite โ€œsteady flowโ€ as Iโ€™m imagining it, but certainly more than a few drops.

Iโ€™ve been doing it that way for a while now and itโ€™s always treated me right.
