Good one!

Still rocking a SAB after 10 years in the hobby. I actually do have a flowhood in storage which is still in pieces but I doubt I will ever put it together lol.

This is mine, 10 years old and maintenance free except from an occasional dusting.

What size is that?

I find the more I get into this hobby the more stuff I'm trying to cram in there and I think it's time for a size upgrade.

Good idea.

Why the three cuts? What do you do with the extra?

Thanks guys! Thanks for sharing baba yaga!:mushroom2:

:highfive:

The third hole is a porthole for better visibility when its required for tiny transfers. I burned the third hole with a Starbucks hot cocoa can and used the top half of a cell treat 15x100mm plate which fit pretty snug with one wrap of cling wrap.

Had to switch over to parafilm once I transitioned over to pyrex though because it kept slipping off my plates.

It's 120 quart. I avoid putting too much stuff in at once and split up the work which makes it more comfortable and keeps the failure rate down. In
this context less is more and bigger is better. I started with a 80 quart SAB and upgraded to this one pretty fast.

:whathesaid:

I rocked a 150L SAB with armhole covers and plexi front, the plexi front is a cheap but hugh improvement in my opinion.

Thinking of converting my current SAB into a dust extracting glovebox for dremel work on stone and other materials i dont want to breathe in.

This means i'm in the market for a new SAB for mycology work. I like the plexi glass front, i'll look into that. I see boxes on the side, are the boxes level when oriented that way or do you guys have something under to compensate for it?

I did have to make "feet" for my SAB in order for it to be leveled indeed, but at least there isn't any openings between the table and the SAB :awesomenod:

How does one burn a hole in a SAB?

Most can find some old coffee cans, heat them up and just melt holes, I can't and I'm pretty sure it would be a mess with plexi anyway. I had to drill hundreds of small holes and sand them, took a couple of hours lol.

If I were to build a new one I would get inspection hatches for boats at the right size, that way you have armhole covers already installed

My beloved folding-yet-rigid SAB. Takes just a minute to set up, I reuse the tape a number of times too. Nice clear view. Built-in arm hole covers :pimp:.

That boat inspection thing is such a banger

What is the optimal hole size, distance between holes and distance from table?

I think it mainly depends of your own comfort and wingspan.

:whathesaid:

But in your case @Mashed I think I would go with 21cm hatches :awesomenod:

When I made my SAB I put the tub where I would work, sat down and got a feel for what felt right before I used a sharpie to mark center of where I wanted the holes.

usually I use a jar ring to rest my scalpel etc.
It's ok.
Usually premake covers out of masking tape strips for plates post pour etc, but it will sometimes rattle fuck out the sab to remove them.
Maybe one day I'll build a more legit one, but for now it does the job!

Hey, run of the mill gets the job done  it's why I'll never spring for a FFU. It works and it's cheap

That's awesome bluescreen!  Never seen a Ridgid yet foldable SAB :pimp:
