It's best to get issues resolved before a ffu shows up. Better equipment won't make up for bad technique. It'll make it worse.

I've discovered a josexs poke is best from fruits not plates.

Agreed I'm making progress tho on improving my sterile technique.

I cleaned up myself properly before beginning n organized workspace n planned my actions before beginning
My excuse for those plates being bad was I mighta been high :maybe:

Was just me being dumb n thinking I'm better than I was when I was super sloppy with movements cuz reasons :laugh2:

Today I defo was way cleaner n precise with my movements n didn't knock down a petri plate like last time 🥵

Didn't hover or have objects or hands over plates n was nice n slow n steady n also disposed of first strip of tape n used a scalpel which I've had great success with unlike trying to use syringe tip as a scalpel :laugh2:

Anything you can stack, you dont want a hard limit to your height, or at least I don't :P

I love my nesco because i cut trays to make spacers and my dehydrator can become as tall as i want it to, which helps if you are harvesting more than a small tub at a time.

I also would fuck myself over with timing and have like 9 monotubs fruiting at the same time, so adequate dehydrator real-estate was my priority

How do y'all measure how much coir you add when spawning bulk? Eyeball it? Weight it? Count scoops?

What  is the most correct substrate for cyanescens

A) out of grains or sawdust for spawn

B) a third suggestion?

C) what is the most correct bulk substrate to mix the spawn with for really huge beds?

I want maximum longevity

I use a big 1L pyrex measuring cup and scoop it so it's overflowing and call it 1 Quart. Seems to work fine.

I use a scale.  Half a brick per tub which invariably contains 2qts spawn minimum.  Lately i find 3qts to be better.

I have a quart jar in the bucket. Measure it by volume that way.

Orange and caramel colors are completely normal with tamps.. can start to look kind of like a orange caramel ice cream sundae.

Somtimes I eye ball and count the handfuls.

Half of the time.. I don't measure at all. I just look for  good mixture and the sub depth that I'm trying to achieve...


The other half.. Same as the others.

I like to use 3 quarts or 4 of coir or peat moss n verm per 14 qt shoebox and 1 or 2 quarts of spawn depending on if I run low on substrate normally.

I prefer to use 1 qt per tub though always end up not prepping enough sub half the time n sometimes just send 2 to 1 tub in a effort to reduce quart jars of spawn sitting for months n months like I tend to let happen somehow 😁

I've been using the same monos for so long I know how it should look with the correct amounts in it. Usually it's as much as I can grab with 2 hands is 2qts. Plus I can weigh stuff with my hands pretty accurately down to a half gram. Don't ask how or why I know.

I have a margarine container that has measurements for up to 1500ml. It's a nice way to load up substrate, easy to clean after.

Crystal brand, I think sold at Costco. Those containers are literally perfect tanks, inherited them from roomate 10 years ago, still rocking

For me I can weigh 4 oz by hand 👌 hahaha

At the same time the 14 qt tubs I use have a line in the middle which I add my spawn to tub n add sub to that line.

Then I add the bowl of sub on top to protect da grains

I learned this after I did the weighing n measuring lol lwk kiss speeds up workflow a bunch once u get past the learning curve

I went from a long ass time to prep 1 tub to being comfortable setting up like 8 tubs in same time or so :laugh2:

So I think these two jars are looking okay after break and shake 48hrs ago (the slightly green tint is a reflection of my pepper plant in the glass)?
