The irony is that the "joke" part is that he doesn't actually think he's far right wing.  He's sarcastically toying with the way he's perceived here as being a nazi and making a tongue-in-cheek "pfft...nazi's WISH they were as right wing as I am" kinda joke.  He thinks he isn't a facist but he supports facist policies.

This illustrates my theory about MAGA.  They aren't intentionally shitty people.  They are just stupid.  They don't have the capacity to think things through. They just know how they feel, and logic to them is the process of making those feelings make sense.

I don't believe lowbrow hates anyone.  He just feels aversion toward certain people and doesn't really understand why.  All the rest of it is just his brain trying to make sense of it without questioning his own feelings.

It's the best we've got. No other system has come anywhere close to providing the same amount of security, prosperity, and freedom for any length of time. Especially for the average person.

That's just why we need limits on money in elections and politics, protect and support the free press, and make a concerted effort to remove foreign influence and interference from our info sphere.

America just has a really shitty version of it between the loose campaign finance laws, the gerrymandered house, the undemocratic senate, the EC making most state presidential elections meaningless, and lifetime tenured unelected officials on the SCOTUS with no oversight...and even it works halfway well when we actually attempt to prevent corruption and most the population is tethered to reality.

It's a balancing act, that's for sure, but none of them are new problems and luckily you personally don't need to have the answers. Experts and think tanks have a plethora of potential policies already thought up and if we devoted the resources could come up with more, some more politically feasible than others, but just because none of them are perfect solutions that's hardly an excuse not to try...which is currently what we are doing. You can't let the perfect be an enemy of the good.

As I said these are all old problems that we and other governments have been addressing for centuries, it's a never ending arms race that requires constant maintenance and attention...but we have let them fester for far too long and the longer we wait to address them the harder it will be to reverse.

Even the structural issues could be addressed if we had the will, amendments to the Constitution were once commonplace...until people got this crazy idea in their heads that the founding fathers were writing gospel and weren't a bunch of drunks feeling their way through the dark.

The problems of democracy are getting worse because of technology.  There's no reason to believe that it's going to turn around.  There may very well be another system that comes along which is better than everything we currently have, but that system will have to be built with the understanding that most people are not going to have enough understanding to make good decisions about the path of society.

Simply put, most people couldn't run a successful small business.  Asking people who couldn't do that to make decisions about an economy as big as the U.S. is simply not an effective process.  And this is on an issue that should be math and logic driven.  The social issues are even worse left to the masses, IMO.
