Goal setting advice
    #29673289 -

Hey

Lately I've been using a really helpful app to track goals and habits called Habitica (free, excellent app I highly recommend to everyone).

I've managed to complete a lot of my goals and have gotten some really good habits in place, like regular walks self care haircuts etc.

I'm not wanting to put the daily habit checking to the side because I find now it sort of just makes me a little anxious because I don't always do the habits, but now that I'm working I have less need for the rigidity of daily habits because I have something to occupy most of my day.

One of the habits is fortnightly reading over my DBT skills (about 24 pages A4 large type) and it makes me a little anxious that I no longer wanna read it, although I think that I can recall most of the skills in times of need so I don't know if I need the regular reminders.

So I'm wanting some advice for how to break out of some of the rigid ways I've trained myself over the past 5 months of unemployment. It was helpful while I was unemployed as it gave me stuff to do, and it's not that I want to drop all the habits it's that I don't mind if I miss some of them on occasion.

I know this is a bit difficult to advise on but any advice is helpful. And I'll ask my therapist too.

Thanks!

Best way to keep goals for your health is shuduling them always right after work no matter what time that is. Walk 10k step throughout the day but finished after a stressful day is amazing. Showering and self care is the same way.

Yeah they're going along okay. I'm reading again Atomic Habits. Some of it is useful such as habit stacking.

I've never read self-help books the only ones I would have read would have been the ones about drug and alcohol addiction.
