voter rolls only show who is registered to vote.  as far as we know, there is no registry of who voted and how.  given that states run their elections, if that data existed I think its existence would have leaked by now.

still, the federal govt has zero right to state voter rolls, and it's not a hot take to suggest that this admin only wants it for the purpose of fucking with the vote.  once you have names of registered voters you can use your new fangled AI to scrape the internet for everything about them and likely get a decent idea of which way they lean politically.  from there it's just a matter of de-registering them or sending their gestapo or whatever other stupid shit they have in mind.  for instance, guess whose mail-in ballots wouldn't arrive?
