Well, holy shit! Technically I have fruited my first two Pan cyans off trays I've been trying to fruit for the past month.... Although they are the smallest non-aborted fully formed mushrooms that I ever fruited! :lmafo:

Neither. After talking with several folks, I've come to believe the composted manure I used was just too leeched of nutrient for the culture to fruit from. If you click on the top link in my sig you can see the log. I had decided to finally give up on the first trays and use Black Kow moving forward, and saw the two tiny fruits when I pulled the trays out of the tubs to toss them outside. My guess is the reason they are so small and so few is there just wasn't enough nutrient. As too how short the stems are, I'd say my system is getting plenty of FAE.

So I got to thinking about the best way I can pasteurize substrates without having to buy anything. Then it hit me, I have this bad boy available to me at work! My boss is a dead-head, and constantly asks me if I have anything, so tomorrow at work I'll ask if I can use their Rational iCombi Pro combi-oven to run a test batch. We use it to cook creme brulees, cheesecakes, steamed green beans, and a few other things. I've used it this garden season to steam blanch green beans from my garden so I could freeze them. I plan on running the test batch on the 100% steam mode, at 160F, for 4 hours overnight. If the boss will let me that is...

@fahtster: Trying to go back through these threads and see your misting schedule for these pan ziploc bags, but it seems you just set and forget? Sometimes water after first flush?

Hey cultivation community,

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. T T BVI strain, agar to  liquid culture to CVG plus manure (black kow) substrate on 8/25, casing on 8/30. Casing with peat moss, vermiculite, pickling lime. Casing was colonized in like two or three days.

I have a vivo sun box that I’ve stuck them into with an attached ultrasonic humidifier that runs all the time to keep humidity at 90 to 95%. Temperatures have been pretty consistent between 77-83F. Computer fan attached to the bottom of the front of it. It gets like 12 hours a day. I have it on the natural wind setting which is blowing over them constantly so is the humidified air.

I don’t see any obvious contamination. What do you guys think?

It’s my first time on here, so go easy on me.

Not saying this is your problem, but certain morphologies of pan mycelium like to fruit more than others. Or at least that's what a lot of the old-heads say.

A lot of people try to identify whispy thin growth on agar over vigorous thick ones because the latter tend to overlay.

Again, I'm not experienced enough to say that is your problem. Just something to keep in mind when you make your next attempt.

It took me a few tries at pans before I started getting flushes. Just keep trying and I'm sure you'll get there.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to offer better advice than me.

Good luck!

Does the fan circulate, or exhaust?  I have had good results with vent/fog cycles in the 1-3 minute range every 15 minutes or so.

Might just be fruiting conditions.

I always add water after a flush. I’ll just flood the clean surface and let that soak in and rinse and repeat until it doesn’t seem like it’s absorbing anymore.

I have set and forget for most of the time I’ve been growing the bags but recently noticed when it rained for a few days straight that all my trays perked up and realized I haven’t been paying attention to ambient room rh all summer when it’s been hot and dry for months and probably why I haven’t had the best summer for ziplocks.  So, I went ahead and bought a small ultrasonic and run it for an hour and then an hour off and that keeps the rh between 60-70% and I’ve seen a marked improvement in all my trays both tub and ziplocks
