It's on :rockon: brainy shakti and acadian coast jars all showing signs of growth, 6 total, not sure the 2 melmac jars are going to work. Skimmed through the LI thread a lil too fast and missed the part about letting them sit for a day or two to grow out first, whoops. The acadian and shakti LI's have since both recovered nicely, but the melmac has zero signs of life, so the cakes are probably bunk. But glad the other cakes are working despite the LI only having a wedge in them for a few hours before a vigorous shake and then inoculation.

Fifteen jars, classic PF tek in 8 oz wide mouth jars with PP5 lids. Nutcracker, Huautla, P ingeli, P subtropicalis and P zapatacorum all inoculated with plate pin agar.  I’m hoping to grow a cake worthy of competition and maybe some spores to share.

I'm trying 3 jars of Zaps also - does this mean we have a separate class for these?

I had a trip out of town planned for the long labor day weekend here in the states and committed to get all my jars inoculated last Thursday night. Of course, putting a deadline on it seemed to cause a really poor session in front of the FFU where nothing went right and my movements felt awkward.  Hopefully the margin of error on PF Tek saves me. Looking forward to getting back home and seeing if I got any growth, probably good I'm away cause I'd be checking them every 3 hours and be disappointed that nothings happening.

Got my Yeti and Albino Country Cock injected jars showing signs.

The spore print ones I did, nothing yet, Coyopolan (wild mexican) and KSSS. Maybe I made them to diluted, but it probably is just a matter of more waiting. The swab plates are also not showing signs quite yet.

Is there a good metric for ideal ratio for spore prints? like, square cm of spore print to 100ml water or something?

Just inoculated the brf vs bran cakes. Went with the RW C6F9 for the more aggressive colonization it has compared to the others

Sorry for the confusion, but does it have to be MSS for CW? I have just been using LI I made with prints but the discussion makes we wonder if there are other legal options? Also my jars look like they are much thicker than everyone else’s? Should I make a new batch? I sifted and used 1:1:2 ratio. Practice cakes are working, and I didn’t sift verm for those but used the same ratio and it looked cakey too.

Wide mouth is new CW cake, tall ones are practice.


It almost looks like I packed down the mix into the jar, but I definitely did not.
