Lack of Respect in a relationship?

What are your experiences with lack of respect in relationships? Not just with partners but also, friends?

Have you had to sever ties over it?

Have you, on retrospect, been the disrespectful one yourself?

Every relationship is between unequals. What are your experiences with it?

I’ve had several friendships in my life that were lopsided in respect. I was late to find this out on all counts.

I’ve become much more aware about the balance in things with people now.

I tend to be a net giver who attracts net takers.

I’m more balanced in the give-and-take now. I’ve come a long way.

I spot the type by a mile now.

I hungout with one guy who had no respect for anyone I only hungout with him cause of my inability to make proper decisions due to schizophrenia. He really had no friends just people who allowed him to come to their parties.

I’ve been a huge disrespecter of relationships in the past. It is perhaps one of the biggest - multi trip, multi year smackdowns that psychedelics have given me - being a disrespectful piece of fuckin shit earlier in life.

I was an angry boy that needed to do a lot of growing up, and learn how to treat people. I’m now not a perfect man, and sometimes can still be a dickhead, but I endeavour to be a better person and a man that makes a mother proud.

I'll let people know exactly what boundary they're crossing with their disrespect and if they can't adjust I relish the opportunity to excise them from my life. It's a major bummer when circumstances drag that process out.
