Paradox strain. I have way too many, when I trim the girls down I can’t, like, NOT root those stem pieces lmao. A pleasure to grow, easy to root. Aerial rooting is common. Until I got a starter Paradox cutting several years ago I only worked with blosser, which I wasn’t much of a fan of. I’ve attempted quids and smoking dozens of times, I researched exactly how to do it, Salvinorin needs very high temperature. Nothing has ever happened, but I like growing them as well as my other ethnos. but they say the bitterness is the Salvinorin and blosser was not very bitter.They’re very hardy and easy. Just typical soil, just a lot of perlite. 50/50 is usually what I do. I have an interest in growing the Luna strain, or seed grown plants. Definitely lme of my top traders/sellers, and so easy to clone

Beautiful plants man. I wish it was easier to find this stuff in Aus. I’ve never known anyone who has grown it over here. It’s been like top of the list of plants I want to grow for so long haha

Interesting to hear that quids and smoking has done nothing for you :strokebeard: . Salvia D is a plant I've wanted to grow for a long while now and I've also been very curious about trying those routes specifically (chewing/sublingual with fresh leaf and smoking dry plain leaf), I've only dabbled with extracts and that was years ago.

If I got my hands on a clone I’d make a a huge patch of them. Living in the tropics I assume they’d just go absolutely nuts here. I’m guessing I’d probably try it once and get too freaked out to try it again haha

My Salvia plant has been half dead for like 2-3 years, but it keeps holding on. I havent been around much to care for it unfortunately. Im honestly not sure what the issue is or what to do about it.

It grew tall, but now the tall stems have died and dried. I just pruned them back. Maybe it is a nutrition thing. I believe it gets an hour of sunlight a day. Im not so sure what the next step should be to see it recover

Well it's not dead so there's hope. :yesnod:

Might just need more regular watering and the some fertiliser occasionally . Cutting away the dead stems and reducing it's height will encourage new growth. They can die back over the Winter period but recover in the Spring generally.

Is it in the ground or in a pot? Indoors or outdoors?

I believe it was getting water. Recently, it was in the sun for many hours, which might have played a role, but that doesnt explain the long-term issue

It is the plant that attracts the most bugs for some reason

It is outside in a pot

Whitefly love these plants in my area and sometimes I need to control them.

Your plant is root bound and needs potting into a larger pot. I bet that pot is full of roots.

Make some cuttings from the long bare stems and when they have roots you can replace the mother plant once they're established.

Cut the mother plant back to growing shoots. This will encourage those to grow and also encourage new shoots to form as well.

So you are saying:

1.)put it into a larger pot
2.)cut large bare stems and put them in water to get them to root

And then:

This means cut it back to the point where the new growth is?

Also, does this mean once the plant gets to a certain size, it will always begin to wither unless it is repotted?

Yeah. Cut it back to just above where those new shoots that have leaves.

No. Unless you grow your plant indoors and can control the temperature, or you live in a place that doesn't get cold in Winter, then the plant will go dormant when it gets cold enough and stop growing. The leaves generally drop off when this happens and when warmer conditions return the plant will grow new leaves.

The bare stems during Winter can even die back a little. Like yours have.

If the plant is rootbound then it wont really grow at all and can suffer for it. It could be a reason why there's little growth. Giving it some more root room and some fresh potting soil should have it responding and new growth should happen in the weeks following.

Thanks g. Unfortunately this will have to wait another couple months until i return home for good. I will also attempt to take a bunch of cuttings from my cacti and replace their soil, as I they are not growing as much as I would like. I do not have space to give them bigger pots, which is probably what they really need

Dude I'm so upset my cats destroyed my salvia plant :cryariver:

I waited over a year to get that cutting, it survived a week in transport in the heat, I spent the last 5 months caring for it, and it was destroyed while I was sleeping last night.

I had a plastic container on top of it for humidity and to keep cats out, but it reached the point where the cover was inhibiting growth, so I put a cheap laundry basket over it thinking that would keep the little shits out but they reached their bastard paws in through the holes, dug it out, and ate it. There is NOTHING left not even roots :crying:

Should have glued some window screen around it. Guess thats what I'll do next year, when I can get another and start over. So, so, so bummed.

Anyone grow recognita or glutinosa instead? divinorum is illegal where Im at
