Here’s an example from one of my grows. This one went nuts pillowing. Most don’t have this extreme.

Yes. The risk is this is just a mold patch. If you pin, it’s mycelium. If not, it’s mold. I’ve had both. Mold looks more choppy and ugly than Ochra pillows. Unfortunately, that’s kind-of a subtle difference. It’s a waiting game now. Wishing you a healthy grow.

pardon if this isn't a quick question with a quick answer. i want to get my feet wet growing my own shrooms. problem is i have very little space and very little privacy with kids in the house. how small and covert can one make a grow box?

So yeah, you can! It isn't a problem to hide a tub. Just put it at the top of the cabinet or somewhere. A bigger problem is preparing the cake without contamination. Cake in the tub can grow on its own if you tune it properly with your environment

U can grow inconspicuously with stone producers in quart jars hidden out of sight n mind or small 7/12 qt tubs are also fairly inconspicuous 😶‍🌫️

Pf teks with water tubs also fairly convenient and easy to hide

i keep reading conflicting information. do they need to have ventilation all the time? the more i can hide these out of sight in a box on my electronics shelf the better

You can flip jar lids for enough airflow or you can poke a hole with a nail in the lid or screw then tape over with micropore tape. U only need a hole about the size of a dime or less for a quart jar.

Lotsa ppl like to do stone producers n make a buncha grain spawn n just let them sit for months then harvest the stones 🤔

Hardest part is clean and precise technique and also clean genetics on top of clean grains :rockon:

Can set jars in a drawer or shelf xd

I got a shelf with lotsa slide out droors so I use that to keep my space cleaned up and less questionable / less obvious what I'm doing

What size desiccant packets would folks recommend for a given jar size? Have a couple use cases.

1) Keeping malt extract powder free flowing (quart jar)

2) Keeping cracker dry mushrooms cracker dry with occasional opening of jars (pints, quarts, potentially larger jars)


The brand of desiccant I'm looking at claims a 2g packet can manage 240 cubic inches (about 4 quarts) but that seems... ambitious. But then again just buying 10g packets feels overkill and would eat up a lot of volume in pint jars.

oh and if anyone has brand suggestions I wouldn't say no. Looking at the "Dry & Dry" brand, rechargeable with indicator, over on 'zon.

Hey I’m back c: got a new batch, hasn’t fruited in almost a month now. Is it sick? Can anyone offer any advice?





3lbs rye 1lb substrate mix, both sterilized and allowed to colonize as the best of my ability. Water is starting to pool and I’m worried about the yellowing.

They do need a small amount of ventilation, but things like plastic shoeboxes have ventilation from the factory. They also don't need light except for direction, so you can keep them in the dark as long as you don't care that they spaghetti in all directions, no harm done. A box like that tucked the back of a closet shelf or something is fine.

I have a heating mat under a kitchen towel for temperature, and a reptile fogger for humidity. Two small computer fans connected to the tub for FAE.

So can I assume transportation temps n whatnot might be making agar wedge gifts not viable for me? I've tryed 3 different genetics from some nice people here 😊 the plates have absolutely no growth on them it's so weird 💀 the ones I used spores on clearly have germination and some contam stragglers

Though the plates I tryed to use agar smushed wedges on all haven't done anything n it's been about a week 🤔

Supposedly the fruits are roughly 2x the potency of your average cube. No personal experience with the fruits though.

I had the most intense psilocin  trip in my life off fresh stones using the dosage calculator on this site though. Grabbed me right by the balls on what was supposed to be equivalent to like 3 grams of cubes.

I think it was off a bit.
