Best liquid culture thread

Can someone link me the best liquid culture thread, particulary on agar to LC or what even the point of LC, I understand the basics on the why of LC just interested in doing some reading on it.

I personally prefer innoculating grain spawn with clean agar wedges. Instead of possible contaminated liquid culture. That beating said I do like the fast growth of liquid culture. Just remember you are adding more liquid to your grain spawn using liquid culture. Which isn't the best thing. Your grain spawn should be hydrated not wet. Wet incourages bacterial contamination.

As far as methods go I like the Josex' poke the best. As for the point of LC, well, it works fast and can inoculate a lot of spawn with just a little bit, plus it stores well. It does increase chances of contamination and you gotta be on top of aseptic tek when working with it. It can range from highly, highly difficult to impossible to read the health of the culture by looking at it. If you aren't running crazy amounts of spawn the juice may not be worth the squeeze. However it's a good technique to learn about and have under your belt, if one can reliably make successful LC then their SAB or flow hood work will have greatly benefitted.

Ahh I understand you both, It seems like one of the great benefits of making LC, is turning 1 syringe into LC and having a vastly greater amount to do what ever you want with it? Correct?

definitely one of the benefits. When I get a new fancy 10cc, I tend to use 8cc to knock up 4 jars. 0.5cc to for a new LC jar, then a few drops to agar for transfers and keep a 1.5cc as backup.

Then test the new LC on agar when it starts to get a healthy colony. However I tend to yolo it when dropping agar plates and end up inoculating a few jars at the same time.

In the end I'm left with WAY too much of everything.

The point of lc is culture storage for years. Easy of knocking up 300 to 500 jars/bags in a day.
The difference media food sources for lc is amazing from potato lc,grain water,light malt, raisins bread, peanut butter mix and more.
Just wait until you get to slurry tek.

I think i'm doing pretty good honestly, first grow was a failure 10 years ago, following 2 were great and I just got back into it 10 years later and everything is going well.
