My homeless friend smoked crack in front of me the other day. I let him finish his hoot then asked him to leave if he's going to do that right beside me as it's a bit much for me. Seen him since and he seems to get it.

People drink around me too but I don't find that quite as triggering and can tolerate it.

I'd be so tempted to smoke crack, as I've never tried it, but man, the drug-induced psychosis it could cause is enough for me to say no.

Good on you guys staying strong through challenges. I've had lots of offers over the years. I usually make it super clear I'm an alcoholic not drinking anymore so they don't offer anymore.

A homeless guy gave me a six pack one night for smokes. He insisted so I just took it and gave it away. Also a chick left beer at my house, gave that away too. I had the case in fridge for two weeks, really bothered me.

Hell yeah for turning that drink down!

I was pretty close to "testing if I can be normal about drinking" yesterday. Glad I didnt go with the impulse and instead talked with some close people. Went on to smoke a bunch of weed instead and microed mushrooms hanging with some buds. Chose well that day.

Keep it real

Feeling good today about not drinking. I'm glad I'm not crying to myself like so many times I would when I drank.

Stay strong dude.

I've had some lately too. The weather is hot as fuck, been working like a dog, it's the 5-6pm time when the craving to smash like 10 beer come in. And that's why I know I'm an alcoholic, I don't even just crave one. I crave chain drinking them until I goto bed and pass out.

Thank God for non alcoholic beer. I know it's a bit of a controversial thing in the sobriety world but for me I have one or two then I don't really crave any more.

I'm sorry man I fucking folded. It was to hot and the cravings have been at my heels for weeks. God fucking dam it. They sell this shit everywhere it's so hard to resist. Gonna go live in the woods and grow some weed and shrooms and get away from this poison.

Sorry to hear you relapsed. I've done my fair share of that but thankfully not in a long while. Don't beat yourself up.

I don't usually recommend Reddits to people but the stop drinking Reddit group is helpful for me. I post once in a while there still.

Welcome back..

Don't know you yet, dear; but going to say a couple 'poignant' truths (that you likely fully know, here's a refresher):

Don't say sorry to anyone but to yourself.

Ayez the entire point of this thread is to be reporting to others your wins, and now a loss, but at the bottom of this all-
You are accountable for one person, your person. It happened, okay, so.
Accept and move along..

Restarting the calendar date is important right now.
Figure yourself out: is this a one timer,  bender, or a change in lifestyle?
Consider you options and circumstances. You are wise, and already know the answers.

All that is in question would be what direction would you like to traverse?

The heat has me too!  Totally get it.
My tactic: fill a thermos, splashing some of that 'simply lime/lemonade' the rest water- with half being ice. Refill throughout day.

Tbh I think this raises a matter of concern: many of us, or maybe just me?
That will drink alcohol during dramatic heat waves, which would be the worst time!

Hence.. Having a plan. As in, alternative drink of choice, already known ahead of time.
Because this will be a hot one for most of us.

Not sure how straight you've gone, but the thc brews- literally sold in every liquor store here, are another alternative.
Sometimes, it is about trusting your placebo affected brain, haha.

Hope you are doing alright.
So close your eyes, brush off your shoulder like after a lil piece of annoying fuzz. *See* yourself succeed, now open your eyes and look at how clean swept your shoulder be.
This slip is a mere blip in an amazing lifetime
Brush it off, yah?

SHORTCOMINGS REMOVED

July 20

But now the words "Of myself I am nothing, the Father doeth the works" began to carry bright promise and meaning.

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 75

When I put the Seventh Step into action I must remember that there are no blanks to fill in. It doesn't say, "Humbly asked Him to (fill in the blank) remove our shortcomings." For years, I filled in the imaginary blank with "Help me!" "Give me the courage to," and "Give me the strength," etc.

The Step says simply that God will remove my shortcomings. The only footwork I must do is "humbly ask," which for me means asking with the knowledge that of myself I am nothing, the Father within "doeth the works."
