I've poked my head in now and again since dubya was in office. Finally signed up lol.

PFtek always seemed too complicated as a kid, but I took the UB leap during covid, loved it, and started doing it right. Grew a lot of cubes, never felt much need to try exotics, but picked up some ochra last year after hearing the rave reviews and it really surprised me how different that felt. So now I've gotta see what I'm missing and do more exotics. 

Just got some TTBVI, zapotecorum, tampanesis, and bisporus (since tree frog had nice things to say). Plus some misc landrace cubes to see if I can start crossing some diversity into my library since it's all vendor stuff rn.
 
Looking forward to having somewhere to share updates and homemade cult tools. Got a DIY particle sensor and a really nice syringe storage chest fridge insert that I'm pretty stoked on lately.

I feel you on the outdoor bed woes. I had plates in December but life happened and now it's May. Wavy caps gonna have to wait until next year.


Really dig the stardew vibe. Thanks for being with us.

Howdy, Yabbe here- lurking for a while and finally signed up
Just found out Sterilite is discontinuing the venerable 1642 shoebox :frown:
Bummer! Glad I got some last year
They have a replacement 6 Qt. one but it's not the same; it's smaller and doesn't have the self-ventilating lid feature

Thanks, just wanted to report spore syringes viable after 2.5 years
in my fridge, just had 3 successful shoebox grows MSS to grain bag to coir
So it can work with a little care and clean syringes- too bad the vendor is no longer in business

I actually did a AIO a couple years ago and the results were only so-so
Therefore I did want to try some bulk grows eventually- lots of great info in the Shroomery- Bod, Pasty, Stro, Munch, and all the rest- best cultivation site on the net
Got some prints made, looking forward to doing some agar work

Joining the site was definitely the best decision I could have made cultivation wise. What strain weee you growing? I had an all in one bag and that didn’t work out for me either and I didn’t like doing pf tek either. So I ended up going spores to LC to brown rice spawned to coir with success so far

Oo, sweet thread! Im happy to see so many others also taking interest in growing and so on. It'll be a long while until i get a chance to start my own shroom journey but until then, i've researched so much of the great resources here and shall continue as time goes.

The 1642 is the white handled shoebox. Sucks that it's getting discontinued. The purple handled shoeboxes worth fine ime, they are just a bit more expensive. The locking lid is nice for different FAE configurations

Hi everybody,
New here and new to the exciting world of cultivating mushrooms. I've got a ton to read and learn and I am just grateful for a community like this.

@DetroitDarren - welcome! Super glad you’re here, dude! GT is a great one to start with. Do you have a print or maybe a spore syringe?  Starting with PF Tek jars is a super way to get started and get pretty reliable results. I’m running a grow along competition using this method over at Cake Wars II. Maybe check out the Hitch Hikers Guide (HHG) in the original post (OP) on this thread and also the PF Tek guide.

Lots of folks around that are happy to help! Enjoy your journey here - I hope to get to see your grow pics as you go!

Glad to see there's more people still coming to the boards!

Im JB, was very active on here before COVID but life got in the way. IM back, and will be embarking on another journey!

really warms me up knowing that there are still people who want to be involved in the community while growing. life has shown me so much over the past 6 years, its really nice to know this place that I loved is still here and strong.
