New User Welcome Wagon
Welcome to the Shroomery!

This thread is intended to be a place for new users to feel welcome to post a hello and to be welcomed by those who have already been here for awhile. Friendly & open interactions are expected to be the norm. Think of this as a friendly and open reception room, where users can mingle and share some basic goodwill while the "noobs" start to get their bearings within the vibrant, expansive, ancient, and increasing trove of mushroom cultivation knowledge that resides at the Shroomery.

For the new or long-absent returning members: Welcome! We are glad you are here. Feel free to let us know you've arrived!

For the less-new folks: Please join me in helping to welcome the new users that show up here.

Shroomery is a super-fuckin-great place for those who want to learn to grow mushrooms, and also for those who are seeking community with other mushroom growers.

There is a huge spectrum of experience, knowledge, interests, skills, and personalities within our ever-thrumming community.

The year is 2095: Shroomery has become one long list of newbie help threads that just endlessly link to eachother. Millions have gone mad trying to get down to the long forgotten tek level.

I think this thread is a great idea!

I'm happy to jump on board! 
I'm relatively new, and never made any introductory posts, just lurked and read A LOT before finally creating an account when I decided this community was just too amazing to only lurk.

I started my mushroom cultivation journey in my bedroom, senior year of high school in 1999.  Ordered spore syringes from Psilocybe Fanaticus and printed the manual off the interwebs that I thought was absolute gold.  Battled contamination most of the few grows I did but was successful in getting a couple OZ's for my friends and I. 

Went to college on the Island of Oahu, where mushroom integration became next level :smile:  I met some cool dudes who were willing to share their knowledge of mushroom identification and where on the island to go and find them. We had some amazing hauls, and would bring them back to the dorm and provide free shrooms for dozens of friends!  Man... I wish I knew what strain that was and could get them again for nostalgia sake! Those deep trips and conversations were instrumental in shaping the core of my future self.  Amazing.

Took 20 years off to do "adult" stuff, and then found my world turned upside down when my wife was diagnosed with cancer.  She has as clean a bill of health as we could hope for now, three years later - and my journey back into mushroom cultivation was a wonderful reunion with how to re-program things in the mind.  Microdose tea with my wife was amazing through the depths of chemo and anxiety with scans.  I love this powerful medicine!!!  Also, with the help of all the awesome resources on this site I've been able to give away shrooms to any and all that have a remote interest in them.  Thanks to all the members, TC's, OG's, and everyone else that has lended a helping hand, written a TEK, answered questions, shared spore prints, and given positive vibes!

Got it.  No, definitely don’t fuck off - all are welcome here. I have no experience with the pub area, but this thread is intended to be a “hello, nice to meet ya” kind of place for new folks to stop by as they get their bearings.  I included a few links in the OP to help with some of the things you mentioned, or seemed so to me.

So, the former.  There are many and far better threads to point people for learning the ropes, such as the HHG.

Ultimately, what I’m hoping here is that new folks can say hello and maybe start to make some human contacts, feel welcome, and find their way to the teaching/learning threads. Might not ultimately work, or it might.
