Hello there everyone! I stumbled across the SHroomery last April after seeing an advert for a mushroom grow box online, googling it and finding a thread here with everyone making fun of it. thanks to the huge amount of knowledge and useful guides here I managed to get a few grows under my belt and am just loving everything about it - pouring agar, taking clones, making liquid culture and so on.

I'm trying to branch out and grow some more interesting stuff now.. there are so many different, beautiful looking strains I want to try and grow. anyway! thank you to everyone who has contributed to this awesome site :smile:

Hey all, just starting to get back at this.  I started out back in late 2010ish 2011 maybe, growing cubes like most of us start out, Mono tubs back in those days.  But yeah, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm over at Topia as well, where pretty much all my work is, edibles, exotics, cubes, PE/TaT variants, you name it, I went crazy (addicted to pellets and rice bran) for about 4 years or so growing over 250 woodie blocks as well. Straight up, no BS, I grow more than I do, I have tossed SO many fruits over the years, usually for new stock or just old and in the way, back to the compost pile.  Huge fan of King Oysters, Pinks, Shiitakes, and Lion Mane mainly.  I've grown beech clam, piopinos, TT, Reishi, many different oysters, I have no experience with manure loving buttons, or ports.  Most of my (active)work is C/V/M, but plenty of cycles on C/V with cubes as well for ease of use running through genetics. 

I am a straight up person, so I don't speak in tongues of OH I heard this, and my friend said that... all experience from me, from tubs, to a Martha for consecutive years dialing in my craft.  All talk aside, I just want to grow mushrooms, I'm a thrill seeker mainly, and to keep my small circle of life happy with mushrooms that won't kill you.  Trust is a big deal these days.  Alrightie... off the Soapbox... flips over podium... drops the mic... I'm OUT!!

Have you ever tried growing Black Pearl?  It's a king * pearl cross that's a bit easier than king imo.

Thank you so much, I appreciate the wonderful response, honestly, I got back into this for some Pan redemption, and I've been off the edible block train for some time.  Now I'm seeing people doing decent in Monos with Pans, which I have a tiny bit of experience with, now ferts without manure, or castings added, I'm just excited to be back to be honest.  I went so hard in the paint for about 5 years with everything that I lost that edge for a bit and a walkabout was needed to reflect.  I love this game tho, so it was only a matter of time I get back excited about making woodie blocks and pan subs.  I actually just finished up another round of jars in the hot water bath, 7 jars of spawn, and another jar ready to go.  I feel reinvigurated to experiment again, I used to grow in old coffee cans, I even did one of those big popcorn tubs you see around Christmas time.  Did great around the edges, but I needed to drill some holes in the middle of the lid for air, hindsight 20/20 deal.

Oh, for sure, I've grown Black Pearl and the King Blue as well, they both are easier than king trumpets, but there is definitely no replacement for Eryngi when it comes to flavor and texture. I have done decent with open blocks, but I prefer to case (easier), and I have used C/V no problem, did amazing actually.

Check out what happens when your LM block gets impatient.  Started growing straight through the filter, I've even seen them pop through the top of the bag and fruit through my ziptie. 





I beleive these are the King Blues







Freebie Oysters in my straw mulch near my tomatoes.  They couldn't help themselves, that damn straw.








Ok one more pic, feeling nostalgic.

These were so delicious, wish they would have flushed better, but oh SO worth it.

One of my favorites to cultivate, Bears Head variety gives up some really cool faces in their fruits.  Invitro fruits, absolutely!

Hello.
I am new here and new to mushroom cultivation.
I am considering building or buying a grow tent for Lions Mane and Shitake and maybe Chestnut mushrooms.
The summers are too hot for these species, so I am planning on having the planned tent set up ready for next Autumn.
If a reader of this can direct me to a section of this forum to ask some simple questions in the above regard, please advise.

I have grown all three (at the same time) in the same environment, cheap tent on the zon for 30-40 bucks, budget style, cheap vicks filter free ultrasonic that I ran for years, I've ran on the top shelf with success, but prefer a vacuum hose piped in.  I currently run a 3 disc setup, the Vicks was maxxed out being a single disc, but worked all the same, filled the tank, depending on ambient conditions, every 1.5 - 2 days, not too cumbersome.  A cheap controller same, all materials about 40 bucks (each), then a waterproof cpu fan, zip ties, odds and ends, but not too bad price wise.  You can run the setup on a cycle timer if you have more time on your hands, just watch the humidity cycle when it's lights off.  I can tell you from running many different configurations, don't get greedy with humidity, it's a juggling act (air vs water) of humidity, or is it flat out raining, same with air, you don't need a wind tunnel in there, light exhaust or small fan, you can kill your humidity (build up) quickly and then you run the fogger too hard it's not they way.
